We visited Our House Senior Living-Medford Assisted Living. If I would not have been able to get Mom into the other facility, we would have gone there. That would have been my second choice. We like the involvement that they do with the residents. In the other facility, they don't allow their residents back into the kitchen and whatever, but at Our House, they do let them partake in helping do meal prep. They have days where they may have a baking afternoon. My mom is an old farm wife, so that's something that she's done her whole life. That intrigued me that they allow residents with supervision and safety, of course, but they do let them help. And that's a good feeling. A lot of the people in these assisted living, there are gentlemen there, but primarily it's women, and what do women do for their whole life? They take care of their family. They do all of the cooking and everything, and to be able to still partake in some of that, I felt was a really good thing. Where we're from is a huge farming community.
I didn't have a chance to meet all of the staff. I met the director that was there. I did see a few of the staff CNAs or nurses, but he has a very high turnover there. He did tell me that people are always coming and going so that I don't like. Their location is beautiful. They have a very nice location. Their facility was very nice and clean. The rooms were small, though, it was almost a nursing home room or a hospital room. There's just enough room for a bed, a dresser, maybe a TV, and maybe a nightstand. I'm not sure I could have even put Mom's lift chair in there to be situated comfortably for her. The staff is wonderful.

I did a tour of Our House Senior Living in Medford. I like the facility where it's located. I like the staff, and I like the way it's setup. They have private rooms and it's very clean. They have family rooms, a big kitchen, and they have outside stuff for them to do. They have a swing, chairs, patio, furniture. They do plants and gardens. They are very prompt in responding.
