I was at The Bay at North Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center for two weeks. My experience was very bad. The place was dirty, old, and not kept up. I didn't get my needs met. It was hard to get a hold of staff when you needed them. Some of the aides were nice and there were some that just totally ignored you. At one point, I was ready to call 911, because I couldn't get a nurse. I was on a cardiac diet, so my meals should have been low sodium and low fat, and they certainly weren't following any dietary recommendations.

The food is under cooked, over boiled, repetitive, corporate does not give dietary enough money for a real budget. The food service RFS does not deliver all that was ordered. The kitchen is the same small area, old equipment since the building was first opened (1950's). When the "500 & 600" wings along with a few offices and very large activity room, the kitchen should have been enlarged with equipment upgrades. None of the doorways are ADA compliant, they got grandfathered in. The HVAC system is old and who knows when the ducts were ever cleaned. Parts of the outside bricks are falling off or heavily cracked. A large portion of the CNA's are part time high school girls, rookies. Some CNA are good at their jobs, many are lazy and the average time to answer a call light averages 1 hour or more, you could be dead or very ill by the time they answer. One nurse for average 24 residents. Many times the CNAs are so busy, they are behind getting one up for P/T. That happens when this place is so understaffed. One CNA for 20+ residents and many times they get scheduled to give baths/showers. There may be a "float" but they are working two wings at the same time covering 44 or so residents. There is no state of Wisconsin rules as to staffing to resident ratio. A proper supply of briefs, chucks, ointments are many times in very short supply. If you need a band-aid good luck. Some of the residents here should be in a care unit for Alzheimer's or other mind care type of units, not this place. You feel like you are just a number and source of money for the corporation that owns this place. They have 10 various locations in Wisconsin, I would not recommend any of them.

Don't put anyone you know in this horrible horrible place. My mother was treated with no respect. They left her in a wet bed all night and most of the morning. And didn't talk nice to her at all.
Resident's Healthcare POA
I would highly suggest doing your research on this facility prior to your loved one being admitted. Phone calls were not returned, staff rude when calling for updates on resident, questionable care and would refuse to release information. If opting to place a loved one here, be diligent in following their care... their life depends on it....

My mother was at North Ridge Medical & Rehab for 6 weeks. The layout of the facility and the food was good, but I didn’t like it because she wasn’t well taken care of. We had to take her by ambulance to the hospital for a drug overdose. They had either given her too much or the wrong drug.
