We toured Ivy Manor of West Bend. It seemed to fit our needs much better than some of the other ones that were too far away. It had a good and homey atmosphere, which was nice. It was bright. The hallways were wide, and they had friendly staff. They were alongside a river, so there were nice things to look at. There were plenty of activities for the residents to participate in, if they wanted to. It had shorter distances to the dining room. They had a courtyard and a main dining room. They offered physical therapy.

My mother moved into Ivy Manor of West Bend. It was the only place that had an opening for the level of care mother needed. My experience has been excellent. My mother likes all the staff, they look out for her, and they seem to be caring. Her room is fine, she loves the food; she said the food is excellent. They have an activities director, and they play a lot of games. Last week, they were invited to the other building on the patio for sing-along, that's all they can do right now because of covid, but she's busy every day, and she's rarely in her room.

Ivy Manor of West Bend was fairly new, nice, light, and bright. However, the rooms were a little small. They did not have a bedroom separate from the main room. The staff members seemed pleasant. The location was good.

I do have my dad in a place already. He is at Ivy Manor. So far, my father seems very happy there. My dad has a two-room unit. It is a bedroom and a living room. It is extremely clean. The bathroom is impeccably clean. The rest of the place is very clea,n and it is decorated in a very home-like setting. It doesn't look like you're walking into a nursing home; it looks like you're walking into a home. That was one thing that sort of eased my mind the first thing I stepped in, and it doesn't smell like nursing home. The dining room has a solid oak dining room set table there. They have a home styled set kitchen and home-styled set plate settings. My dad is not much of an activity person, but they do have activities. They have little singing groups, exercise classes going on, and card playing. Also there is a fireplace in their main room that they can go to. All the rooms are open unless they want complete privacy. However, one thing I noticed on our first visit was that one of the staff members was lying down on the couch sleeping. That's the only negative thing. I wish there would be a room for the staff, so if they are tired, they can go to a separate room and take a nap or whatever.

We had our mom at Ivy Manor of West Bend before they suggested for her to leave because they didn't feel fully able to care for her. Their facility was fine as well as their food and staff. The room was nice and very spacious. It had it's own bathroom. They had a patio with plants and it was well-kept. I feel like if this were the place you would chose, you would need to be upfront with the needs of your resident. They claimed that they could manage her and then they chose not to. They wanted us to have her medicated but her doctor didn't see that that was a good reason. They seemed to be very frustrated with her often and sometimes came across as disrespectful. They would call us often and tell us that she wasn't happy, that something was wrong and they couldn't make it better. I think they needed to have more training.
