McFarland Villa was the only one in our area that could do four or five days' worth of respite care. It was clean but dark. The community room was dark. I did not see any of the residents outside of their rooms. There was nobody in the community room, although it looked like it had games available. It's in a residential neighborhood with a Cape Cod look to it. The room that we were shown was unfurnished, very small, and not inviting. The grounds were small. I didn't see any garden or outside area, but it was cold when we went. My friend wasn't willing to walk around. I only met the manager.

McFarland was an older facility and not as well maintained. The rooms were a smaller and not as well maintained as the others we saw; they needed some help. Their dining area was kind of small but adequate. I think they need to spend more time on maintenance issues. The people weren’t as warm and welcoming. It was the lowest price among the three I saw, but I think they were overpriced for the services that they offered. They had scheduled programs, but did not have as many offerings as the other places.

I visited McFarland Villa Assisted Living was OK. The apartments were adequate. The one who toured me around was nice. He answered my questions and whatever else. They had a lot of activities. They had places for them, and that was good.
