During my great grandma's time at the nursing home I visited her frequently. My mother and I went pretty much every Sunday. While my great grandmother was at this facility I also spent time volunteering in the Alzheimer unit. The facility was always clean. There was also a large amount of natural light that was let in through huge walls of windows. There was a court yard that the residents were able to enjoy if possible. One thing my great grandmother always really loved were the birds they had outside. There was a big area of birdfeeders that really brightened the day for many people. Facility staff was friendly and mostly caring. That is not to say we didn't have bad experiences, but overall it was a positive. The largest complaint from my great grandma was the quality of food. Although I was never present for meals, it did seem like all patients were provided adequate nutrition.

Visted often and the staff was not consistant, a lot of pool help and turn over. Caused some stress on the relative who was there. County owned facility. More stress over the county looking into privitizing some of the care/food. Relative moved to new care facilty. Much more institutional than was needed at the time.
