Willowick in Beloit was brand new and gorgeous. Their staff was visible constantly, and my friend's care was excellent. Her room was very large. She had a private room, so she had no roommates. She had a bathroom attached (like an en suite), and it was clean. Her linen and everything was spotless. The staff was attentive and protective of the residents. When they realized that we'd known each other for as long as we had, they gave us privacy. I was impressed with her care and the state of her room.
They also had a large gathering room that was nicely furnished and the residents all seemed to be out there gathered. The facility is concerned about security, too. You have to ring the bell, and they have to talk to you over the intercom before they'll let you in. Unless you have a reason to be there, you're not going to get in.

The facility smelled fresh and the front lobby was warm and inviting. The staff was very accomodating in directing me to who I needed to speak with about helping a loved one. I saw a lot of natural light and smiles...definitely worth the visit.

I'm not impressed with Willowick Assisted Living of Beloit. My father was not impressed either. As soon as he walked in he wanted to walk out; it had a lot to do with the demeanor of the people in there. It looked colder. It had a gate that you get locked in and out of. I know people that are at Willowick and because of their mental state they don't even realize where they are, so they're OK with it. The staff member during the tour was very nice, very accommodating, and very pleasant. It wasn't the person so much, it was the facility, and what they had to offer. The rooms were cold and very basic. It looked beautiful on the outside, but on the inside, they only had one handrail in the hallway, and it was very difficult to get around.
