The room at Heritage Homes compared to the one my parents are in at their current facility was not even close. It was more expensive and the room was the size of a big bathroom, that would've been their living room and their bedroom. It's definitely has more of a 70s feel. It reminded me more of an old nursing home. The staff was nice.

I love the staff at Heritage Homes. They are the nicest. I would have felt so comfortable with my grandmother being there. The only problem is that the apartments are really tiny, so she would have been miserable. The place is really nice.

My husband was at Heritage Homes in the memory unit. They had excellent activities to keep them active and busy all of the time. They try to keep them out of their rooms as much as possible and in the general area where they interacted with each other. It was small with only 18 people living there. It was an excellent and very Christian-centered facility. It's run by the Lutheran church. The rooms were all outside rooms with windows facing outside. The 18 people were divided on two sides, with nine on the "purple side," so people could easily identify their rooms even though they weren't really alert. The central area had tables where they ate and played games, and at the end of it they had a fireplace and some comfortable chairs. There was an outdoor area where they went when the weather was nice, and it was all enclosed so that nobody could leave. The food was excellent. It was just very good food. The food was very attractively served, and I thought it was a well-balanced, well-prepared, and well-presented meal. What stood out to me was the way that the staff seemed to love the residents, not just as part of the job but as family. The last two weeks that he was there, he had hospice care, and the hospice people came in and helped with the extra things that he needed. The staff worked together with the hospice team beautifully.

The facility itself is well furnished and designed. The layout is quite circular, with one main square hallway off of which are all the residents' rooms. There is an outdoor courtyard in the center of the building, allowing residents to go outside without wandering off. There is also a warm, inviting living room area, complete with a fireplace and view of the courtyard. The most extraordinary thing about Heritage is the staff, whom have the patience of a saint. Every staff member is nothing but nice to both the residents and their visitors. They learn as much as they can about each resident and their families, and treat them with dignity and respect.

We visited Heritage Homes Assisted Living while in Wisconsin looking at facilities as possible new living environments for our uncle. We liked the nicely maintained exterior, which resembled a colonial style estate. The grounds were beautifully landscaped. The tree-lined walkways looked pleasant and easy for the seniors to navigate. The overall decor of the facility was nice, calming and peaceful - yet current and not stale. The staff was very kind and expert at handling the varied ambulations of the residents. It was clear that the residents' needs are well met here. This facility had ample communal rooms including several activity rooms for reading, watching films, crafting and general socializing, which the staff encourages. The residents can also safely navigate the lovely grounds for exercise in the fresh air. The living spaces were generous, with nice furniture and decorations, each designed and tailored to the resident's needs and desires. The dining areas were easy to navigate with a restaurant style atmosphere where residents could choose from a variety of foods, all of which we saw smelled and looked delicious. The snacks are offered frequently and looked healthy, as well. The many outings planned include cultural events in the Watertown and surrounding areas -- where interesting music and art gatherings and book discussions are held regularly. They are also taken to a variety of casual and fine dining establishments regularly. This is a really well staffed facility and the residents here are very well taken care of.
