Oak Park Place Baraboo was great. We were interested in assisted living. It's picturesque. It's a very nice place. It's like walking into a much larger type of a hotel, or something in a way. There's a lot of activities going on. They have almost like a little street inside with all kinds of shops and everything else. The director was the one that we interviewed with and then took us around. She did a nice job.

While the main areas of the facility as well as the assisted living apartments are quite nice, the CBRF/Memory care unit falls way below what Oak Park presents to the public. Stained carpeting and furniture, wooden tables with no remaining finish , dead bugs in ceiling light fixtures, broken window blinds, crap stuffed in corners and countertops, blasting TV 24/7, nasty looking and tasting food that is served at room temperature, no outings or even car rides, no live music, no plants, no seasonal decorations, no choice of entrees like everywhere else living there. The decor is from the early 1990s and NOT maintained. The staff are expected to do all the cleaning, laundry and serve food all while also providing direct care for 30 people with physical ailments and advanced dementia. for 6K a month, certainly these vulnerable people could be provided with better physical plant management, food and activities.

We moved our mother to Oak Park Independent Living just before Covid. We were so grateful that she was there, especially during the lockdown. We knew she was being cared for during the pandemic and that they were a warm, friendly community doing their very best to keep the residents safe. Mom would say how she felt so cared for! Everyone always said hello to the residents, including the high school dining staff! They even knew everyone on a first name basis which is pretty excellent P.R. The staff were very kind to the residents and it was evident that they were encouraged to present a warm, friendly, caring atmosphere! Our mother loved being at Oak Park. She was so glad that she made the decision to sell her Condo and move. Her apartment was beautiful, clean, warm in the winter months and overlooked the beautiful Baraboo Bluffs which she loved! One of her favorite things to do was sit on her deck with friends in the warm weather. She participated in off-site field trips, bingo, arts & crafts, mass (on-site during Covid). She also loved to stroll downstairs to the lobby and read the paper, drink a cup of coffee and visit with friends. Her afternoon routine included a trip to the 1st floor to get her mail, then continue a walk, stopping to visit with other residents. She made a lot of new friends. She enjoyed sitting with a group of others to chat before dinner in one of the many lounge areas. Dining was another of her favorite times because she liked to chat with people. She really enjoyed Oak Park and loved the staff who made her feel so welcome and at home.

The staff at Oak Park Place Baraboo was extremely professional and friendly. We found the residents welcoming and it seemed like everything was clean. It looked like topnotch care, but my dad wasn't ready to move out of his home, so that was all it amounted to.
We looked at both assisted and independent living. Assisted living care seems very proactive and very focused on residents. It seems like independent living has a lot of amenities that are provided and there were activities and lots of opportunities for socialization. That's true even in assisted living as well.
I was not able to sample the food. It looked pretty good to me and it smelled pretty good to me, but my dad is very fussy and he didn't care for it, so I wouldn't go by what he said, but it looked fairly nutritious. They had people waiting on them.
One thing that might be of concern to some families is the price. As far as I'm concerned, it would be worth it. If you can afford it, it's worth every penny. I'm only in my 50s and I would go there to live if I needed to, same with my husband. We already told the staff, "We're going to start looking around and you're on the top of the list in a few years down the road if we need extra care."

Oak Park Place has been home for our mother for many years. She is comfortable there and we feel fortunate she is so well cared for. She always comments about how wonderful the staff is and we concur in the interactions we have had. There are a wide variety of activities offered for the residents. Director Brittany is helpful, caring, knowledgeable, understanding, and compassionate. She is a real advocate for the residents and has their best interests in mind!

We've moved my mother into Oak Park Place Baraboo. It's very expensive, but the rooms are quite large. There's an actual bedroom and a living room. They are very understaffed, so there are times when you have to ask for what you need, which is too bad because you're paying a really high price to be in a facility like this and you have to ask for things that should be given to the clients quickly and easily. The food is alright. The staff is very busy, but they know what they're talking about. They've got a wonderful activities director. They have trips to Wal-Mart, concerts on the Square, the theater, they play cards, they do nails, they put puzzles together, they do crafts, there's a great library, book clubs, and lots of easy sidewalks. It's a beautiful facility.

My dad has been at Oak Park Place Baraboo since the first part of October. They do a very good job, and the staff is pretty good. They keep my dad very comfortable, fed, and clean. The food is good. The place is very new, modern, and nice. It's like a nice home as opposed to some of the other memory care units where it's pretty much a hospital situation. They also have a lot of activities to keep them active.

My visit with Oak Park was very good. It has a very warm atmosphere. It is clean. The staff, the rooms, and the meal selections were excellent. My mother in law stayed there. They have a wide selection of activities. It has a very homelike feeling to it and does not feel institutional.

Oak Park was very beautiful and well-thought-out. I think they do a lot for people there. The staff was lovely and showed me a lot of good things. They have a lot of activities going on. The residents were playing cards and they had a Bible study or a reading session. The food was good and the residents also said the food was real good. It looked like everyone was happy.
