We will be transferring my mom to Orchard Hills Assisted Living. We are choosing it because we ran into people that said it was very good. We were able to look at the rooms and the rooms seemed nice for her. The staff greeted us when we got there. One of the staff people remembered my mom from the nursing home she was at, so she was very friendly and very nice. It was Veterans Day and they had a veterans program going on. There was music at the time. There was a library there, and they had activities for their residents. They also provide transportation for their residents.

The tour of the facilities was done really well. The staff explained all of the aspects of the place very well. They answered the questions my grandma had. All of the staff we saw seemed like they liked what they were doing and were smiling. When we toured the actual living area my grandma thought it was too small for her and she didn't really like the decor. I thought it was fine but those were her personal preferences. The staff assured her that she could change the decor to her liking since it would be her personal area. We saw the dining area and it looked nice. The residents seemed to be enjoying their food and were talking to each other. In the end, my grandma decided that she would rather find a condo or something similar to that. She felt that although she thought the facility was nice and seemed to be very well run, she needed more room for entertaining and wanted more privacy.

We really liked the outside look of the Orchard Hills assisted living facility. While searching for a place for our aunt to live in the area, we decided to stop in. Despite not having an appointment, they very graciously gave us a tour. We could see that the facility could accommodate all levels of ambulation. The interior foyer had lovely, fresh smelling flowers that made it immediately welcoming. The decor was fresh, airy and bright with very nice furniture and decorations. The outside grounds offered great access for the residents to enjoy walking around safely with regularity. There is also plenty of space to have outdoor parties and picnics. There were hardwood floors throughout the private units, which really adds a richness to the decor. The private rooms featured also have plenty of space and are very nicely decorated according to each resident's taste. Each unit also had plenty of natural light and fresh air. The activity rooms were spacious, with comfortable furniture and tables for crafting, playing games and other activities. The seniors easily socialize, watch TV and films and participate in many stimulating activities throughout the facility. Seniors can use the exercise room with treadmills, bikes and weight training equipment and are invited to take instructed exercise classes. The residents can stretch their legs and get plenty of exercise on the many outings to visit the many Eau Claire eateries, cultural events and other entertainment establishments. The dining rooms offer plenty of space for seniors to enjoy their healthy and delicious meals. The menus have many interesting options. Seniors may enjoy healthy snacks throughout the day and when requested. This is a really well designed and maintained facility -- which is why the residents appeared so content in their living environments. The considerate and respectful staff do whatever it takes to ensure that the residents are well cared for.
