We've looked at The Sequoia Assisted Living Community. We were very pleased with our initial conversation and our tour. We just put down a deposit, but he hasn't lived there yet. We were impressed with the first impression. Several personal acquaintances of mine actually have had family members living there and spoke very highly of it. That's the main reason that we reserved it for my dad. They're undergoing renovation right now, so it's a little torn up, but it'll be nicer when they're done. We felt like the staff-to-patient ratio was good. They don't have a high turnover of staff. Actually, one thing that I liked was that although the woman who gave us the tour hasn't been there for that long, she's been in the business for many years. She said she would not work for a place that just hired her with one interview. She wouldn't trust that place to be a good place. She said they had three very in-depth interviews before hiring her, and she took that as a very positive thing. They just seem to be very compassionate, and it's a nice facility without being super glitzy or fancy. It is what we were looking for: something that's nice but not gold plated. It just had a good feeling. The staff spent over an hour with me on the phone before the tour. Then my sister came with me for the tour, and she must have spent another hour with us. It was just a very, very informative and very complete tour. I go with my gut, and it says it's good. Judging by what I saw and what I know that they're doing, the renovations are going to be really great. There are lots of green and lots of outdoor spaces. It's like a square so there's a huge courtyard in the middle with greenery, tables, and benches, and they have lots of music coming in. They're going to have outdoor dining in the little courtyard. They have a very good track record on COVID so they are very responsible.

My friend is in The Sequoia Assisted Living Community. She was placed there first of the week because she fell and broke her hip. She's there for a 30-day respite, but more than likely she'll probably end up staying there because they're not going to allow her to go home. I helped her move into the facility, and she's in the assisted living. I found it to be very clean, and it smelled good. I've been in places where you go in there, and it actually smells like urine or it just smells of (I hate this expression) old people. This one didn't. The individual that we dealt with, her name was Covina, was very helpful and very friendly. In the process, she took us to the particular room on the 2nd floor that my friend was moving into. We were able to walk past the dining room, but that was about the extent of it. We did see where they have a little TV area. There were some residents that were currently sitting there watching some TV, but we didn't. We weren't able to do any kind of a tour of the facility because we had to get my friend into the room. I wasn't able to try the food, but I was able to see the daily menu they had. I thought it was a very well-rounded menu that they provided. They do give you options to be able to choose things. It's not like you have to have just whatever one thing that's on the menu. I thought that was a good thing. My friend is diabetic, and so we were able to talk with one lady about working on a particular diet for her, and make sure that she had a diet that was going to work for her situation. Once we got to her room, I didn't feel that there was adequate overhead or overhead lighting for the room. It was a little bit dark, and my friend has vision issues. She's diagnosed as being almost legally blind due to her diabetes. That was kind of one little bit of disappointment, but the room itself was very nice. They were going to try to see if they could find another stand-up lamp to put into her room. They were just having difficulties trying to find a light bulb to go in it. By the time I left when she was moving in, they had not given her an adequate lamp at that point. It also looked like there were a couple of areas in the facility that they probably could have done a little bit of paint or a little bit of carpet cleaning. For the most part, it was very well-kept and looked very presentable. I really didn't get to see much of the extras of the facility. I would like to have seen whether or not they had a courtyard area or something like that. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time or the opportunity to be able to see that. I'm hoping to hear in about 10 days because my friend has to be quarantined for 10 days. I'm hoping to be able to go back in that time frame and be able to tour the facility a little better. I'm not exactly sure right now how much she is paying. She is on respite and that is a different price than your normal monthly amount.

The Sequoia Assisted Living Community was great and had a good layout. It was clean, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only drawback was that their floor plans just wouldn't work for my parents. They call them a studio alcove,and it was just kind of an odd setup. Everything else about it was nice. We also looked at their calendar of activities. They were just starting to get back into things due to COVID, and there were lots to choose from.

My husband will be at The Sequoia. The people were very friendly. It was clean, it was laid out well, they had painted the outside, and they were doing some work on the inside. The room I saw had the bedroom and the living area combined. It had a big bed, a big chair, TV, etc. It was a good size, but it was not a separate bedroom. The bathrooms were big. I know they have a lot of activities. I know the chef there, and where he came from, and he was a good chef.

Care staff consistently work understaffed and undertrained. The food is not good at all. The care is inconsistent. My very good friend is now not walking and has a horrible open wound on her heal, which is not being cared for. State is in the building investigating cases regularly. The management does not care!

Marie has been at Sequioa since late February. The staff and residents are so good and understanding with her. They make sure she gets to meals and activities. Will call me when she's upset, anxious or confused so she can speak with us. They treat with loving support and respect.

We toured the Sequoia earlier this month after visiting all of the other assisted livings in the area. We are truly thankful for the kind, caring support of Stephanie the Marketing Director. She is a sweetheart, and I can tell she truly cares about the people who live there. Lisa and Tracy were quick, and responsive, and put our minds at ease. I am confident that mom will flourish at The Sequoia.

Disappointing. Looked at this place for our dad and we were not very impressed. Old building, pushy sales (pricing was high) and we felt it was more about money then good care for our dad.. The cost to live there is higher then two of the area's newer and nicer buildings. Do not recommend.

We moved my Mother in for a short stay as I was going to be leaving town for several days. From the first day there were issues! The sales lady promised us things would be ready to go in mom's room and they weren't, her safety necklace didn't work, her TV didn't work, etc. The care staff seemed nice but told us they were short staffed and it was obvious they were doing the best they could, but mom had extended wait times. We ended up picking mom up early - she called daily saying she didn't want to be there. When I called on two different occasions, the phone rang and rang with no answer. That was disturbing. Both the Executive Director and Sales lady just told us what we wanted to hear to get our money. No refunds! Do your homework before choosing a place like this. There are much nicer ones in the area and I would pay a little more money for better care and security.

What a disappointment! Brought my mother in after checking a few other places in town. We thought it would be a good place after everything we were told. We were promised a "deal" on rent that didn't happen. We moved mom asap. Found an honest place and she is so happy.

DON"T BE FOOLED IS RIGHT! I moved my mother into the Sequoia hoping that all the rumors about this place were unfounded. I was wrong! They did not take care of her. It took them 2 days to give her an alert button, then over 20 minutes to check on her when she used it. This place is dirty and very understaffed. The admin side will make all kinds of promises, than fall flat. The food was terrible and they couldn't even keep track of the her laundry, which they lost!. My mother was there 2 weeks and was charged over $4000.00! This is a TERRIBLE PLACE to have your loved one. I tried to get into the building before 8 am to check on her but was locked out. A sign said ring the bell, which I did, but nobody came. It's so sad to see whats available for the elderly. PLEASE do your homework before signing those contracts...

My grandma has lived here for a few years. The staff turnover has been worrisome- people come and go within weeks. Our family was thankful to see that the wellness director Missy and the receptionist Sarah came back. We hope they will stay. If things don't improve soon, we will move her to a more stable place.

My mom was at the Sequoia. She applied and moved in for one day, but she was not physically and emotionally ready to move in. It was clean; however, the food was less than adequate. The staff, although nice, was adequate at best, and the residents did not have a very positive outlook. That played into my mom deciding not to be there. They collected a deposit and first month’s rent plus five extra days, and I was not refunded at all. The layout was functional.

The Sequoia and its rooms were good. They had a theater room and a nice dining room. The people were excellent. It was an older facility, but it was clean and orderly.

I am a family friend of a current resident at The Sequoia. I have always enjoyed this community every time I have visited my friend. It had a great "family" appeal to it. The staff has always been genuine and caring with a fun vibe throughout the building. The food was usually "ok" and was a great environment. Recently I have come in to visit, haven't been here in about 8 months or so and wow what a disappointment! I did not recognize any staff, their is still not an Executive Director and the Nursing Director Melanie whom I loved and trusted so much was no longer working there. It was like a ghost town with a really bad vibe and frankly sad. I wondered if they had sold to another company, but was informed they had not. I wonder if corporate ever visits and and can see the downfall? My friend is considering moving out as some of her other neighbors have. Sad that a once charming vibrant community has gone down the hill. One good note is Eva a caregiver and Stephanie in marketing still work there.

The Sequoia Assisted Living Community looked impressive from the outside, and the location near doctors was very convenient. When we visited, it was very dark. The best thing about it was the lady who greeted us and took us on the tour because she was a very nice and genuine person. The facility seemed old, dark, and not very lively. They offered a very limited menu compared to the other two places I visited. Residents ate what was on the menu, or plan B was a ham sandwich or something like that. The rooms seemed to be very small, not very private, had very little storage, and seemed like a hotel room. They had rides to the country about once a week. They would pick them if they wanted to run errands to Walgreens or Target and gardens.

Very pleased with the care. Food is wonderful.

I move my mother to The Sequoia. I like that they are very caring. Their staff has been with them a long time; which always indicates a good working relation. I also like their reputation. I always hear good things about them. I tried the food. It is decent, but my mother hates it.

The personnel that I have been in contact with have all been wonderful. The ladies have been very helpful and answered all my questions as soon as possible. The Sequoia was very clean and very well kept. The staff that maintains my mother’s care is very caring and really on top of what’s going on. They are very polite with my mother, and she is really enjoying the experience there, which was one of my biggest concerns, because she has not been in any institution but she has been to rehabilitation but always going home, and this time I think they had made her realized that she does have limitations, and they are very helpful, but at the same time, they don’t bring it up into an embarrassing situation. My mother has been very friendly with the other people who are there really fast, a BFF kind of thing happening, and I noticed that one of the good things that the ladies that are there have a tendency to get the ladies under their wing -- almost like sisters. The location is wonderful, and she got a room that is very comfortable for her and very well positioned, so we are very lucky. The dining area is like going to a restaurant, it’s three times a day she goes, and she peeks at the menu as if she is doing out in a restaurant and have choices. If she wantsm they give her a dessert and know she is on a sugar free diet. In a quiet way, they check on her without making a big thing about it. It’s a very nice place, and we are very pleased with the rooms. It’s one of the studios, but size wise, it’s a really generous room. They have transportation that takes them to places.

I met with the director of The Sequoia, and she said they have a zero deficiency report, but when I looked it up online, they had a fine for the last two years. It was really close to my home though. There’s a nice courtyard in the middle so they could go sit out in the trees. It’s like a Spanish courtyard inside the facility. The facility looked clean. The room was nice enough. It was a studio with an alcove, and it was like a model room. They had nice furnishings in it. I ate lunch there, and the food was fine. The dining area was large.

Nursing staff are awesome! Missy and Melanie are top notch. This place has fun activities my mother enjoys participating in and the atmosphere is very friendly and warm. It is a smaller building, so it has a family feel to it. I will recommend this place to my family and friends.

We saw a couple of units. Overall, we liked The Sequoia, but it was too small.

I find it extremely compelling to say that Lori of The Sequoia Assisted Living Community is an excellent asset to the organization. She finds it second nature to do what has to be done to accommodate both resident and family in any situation. Her foresight and control is astounding! Lori made my Mother-In-Law's transition to The Sequoia smooth instilling joy and happiness to a 90 year old arthritic lady. Lori insured that Mom felt welcome, introducing her to the other residents, fostering the socialization that Mom really needed. I can't say enough about Lori as she has made so many lives much better. She certainly knows and practices customer service, missing in so many places these days. She is an Angel! Louis

It's a nice clean place. It's a little bit smaller. It wouldn't work out so well for my mom. I didn't realize how much dementia she has. I wouldn't see her as often. I don't think the food was good. They have meal times and didn't have the open dining. People there are nice.

Both of my parents have been in Sequioa Assisted Living for two months going three. We liked the facility very much. It's clean, modern and it had a Medicaid spend down guarantee. We liked the staff, the set up and all of it. It just all ended up a good thing for my parents. Service has been excellent. The food is good. They have a selection to choose from, different for each meal.
