My mom was transferred to a skilled nursing facility at Good Samaritan Society Spokane Valley. My experience with them was very good. The workers are caring. The facility is very clean. It's a good place. It's a nice facility. I've seen some of the other families there, and they all seem happy with the care being given there. The staff members were very caring, very knowledgeable, and very professional. It's a well-staffed place. There were some places that we noticed short on staff, but not this place. The workers seemed happy there. We actually had a conference with them and everything. They actually set up a conference, so we came in. They discussed everything that they were doing, the progress of my mom, the prognosis, and all kinds of stuff. We weren't expecting that. We didn't ask for it, so it's very good. Considering the amount of care she's getting and that it is the same price as a regular care home, that to me is a great deal.

July 2019 my husband was transferred from Valley Hospital to Good Samaritan. He was only there 14 days and then sent home on Hospice. He died 10 days after leaving Good Samaritan. Then I get a bill from Good Samaritan for $2469.00. We have medicare and a supplement insurance. Through all the hospitalization that year our insurance paid totally the charges from all the hospitals. I have reached out for Good Samaritan to help me with this mistake charges but no help. I am 77 years old, and do not have any funds to pay. They are still hounded me for the money. This must be an administrative error but no one seems to care. I know that before they require pre-approval before you are admitted, so did that happen? I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

My father-in-law was in Good Samaritan Society during rehabilitation. They're a Luther-affiliated group and they had non-denominational services. Everything was very professional, very clean; a very caring staff. The rehabilitation folks worked their thing extensively. The food was good. He was at a private room and it was adequately furnished and kept in good condition. They offered a lot of diversions for them. They had entertainers come in, singers and people who would do things with the folks. They did offer services such as transportation to doctor's appointments. They went to the local grocery stores. They need to improve the condition of some of their furnishings like their wheelchair access. He was in there under the coverage by Medicare for rehab. We thought as long as he was rehabbing, we had 90 days but all of a sudden, they decided that he wasn't improving. They called us and gave us 3 days notice and said he's going to private pay in 3 days. That put us in a bind to do something. We spent some money on a lawyer that we really didn't need to because we wanted some answers quickly and didn't give any help in that direction.
