Avamere at South Hill looked like a newer facility. The only thing I didn't like about it was the cost. It was just really expensive. They had super smelling food. It made me hungry walking in. The staff who assisted me with the tour offered a meal, but we didn't eat there. Jackson was super knowledgeable about assisted living, and the ins and outs. I learned a lot from him. He was very friendly. We got along well. He had a lot of knowledge and he could answer any questions about assisted living and what they do.
They had a gym, a courtyard, and a big dining area. It was more structured. There was a time for everything. They had certain dates that transportation would be on Tuesdays and Thursdays for medical appointments. Then the other three days were for shopping or whatever you wanted to do, I guess. They had a medical staff on hand there.

We have visited and the room we saw was totally empty, but compared to the room in her previous community, it was sufficiently spacious. It had its own bathroom and a tiny kitchen. The place seemed fine and smelled good.

We had the pleasure of staying as guests of Brookdale after the recent wind storm that hit the Spokane area on Nov. 17, 2015. Thousands of people were without power including our home for days. My husband and I are older and medically fragile. We were unable to stay in our home. Brookdale opened their facility to the community who were affected during this difficult time. When our power was restored and we were able to return to our home, I went to pay our bill I was told our stay was complimentary. What a blessing Brookdale was for us. The staff, facility and care we received was exemplary.

My sister-in-law is in this place. The staff is all good. It's a smaller place, has a good view, and has a nice window, and she likes that. The grounds are good. It's a nice quiet area. They have outings, games, and family nights.

I think that if I was really looking seriously, and I might be one day soon, for an assisted living, I would definitely recommend this community. We had lunch there, and it was wonderful. The apartments were very nice. Some of the residents were more than willing to show us their apartments. It was a very pleasant experience. There was nothing that I didn't like. It is set back off of the street, so you are not going to hear all the street noises. It was just about perfect. And the staff, everyone from the people outside planting flowers to the help in the lunch room (we had a lovely lunch) and the girl who took us around, was just super.
