Rockwood at Whitworth is fine. My dad's room and the staff are terrific. He doesn't participate in activities because he can't hear. He wanders the halls sometimes to talk to people, that's about it. They got a fairly big facility, so he walks up and down the halls. He doesn't go outside much really.
The facility is terrific. They have cable, a community TV room, and some stuff that he doesn't do much.
They're also limited now because of all the protocols that they have to follow via the governor so they're not going outside much anymore as a group. They can go to doctor's appointments but with just going out to shop or whatever, they don't do that right now.
I get weekly updates from them. I also talk to him every day so I get updates from him too.
It's expensive but it's good.

We live in Rockwood at Hawthorne. It has a beautiful campus with flowers and lawn. There is a Manor which we live in and there is a courtyard. There's a fountain and you can sit around it. People often have little meetings there and family reunions. There are chairs and lots of flowers. There are duplexes and independent cottages, whatever you want to buy into. They have a continuum of care. We are independent and if one of us should need help, they will provide that in the room here, and we don't have to move. The food is good and there are lots of activities. They have medical runs, devotions, and we are going to have a meet your neighbor event. Tomorrow, they will play Pinochle and they have the Battle of the Chefs in the main dining room which should be interesting. We have exercises, strength and balance exercises, seated exercises, and we are going to have Show and Tell -- everybody that wants to can bring in their hobby and display it. They have Scribbage, manicures, games, Grandparents Day, an ice cream cart, and you can go to the Spokane Symphony if you sign up for it. There is a movie every Sunday, Catholic mass, sing-alongs, lectures, and a bookmobile. Soon we will have an independent Manor residents council which my husband is president of. We are right across from the North Spokane Library; we can go across there or they come here. On the 30th, we're going to a train ride and brunch. We do a lot of things. I cannot find anything wrong here. We are independent, but not everybody that lives here is. It is a continuum of care.
