Brookdale Monroe has been great. Everyone is wonderful, pleasant, friendly, and outgoing. They do a really good job of having a feeling of community. My dad has a studio with new floors and new paint. It meets his needs. The place is nicely maintained. They do a good job with that. The food is also very good. Their dining room is very elegant and very inviting. They have all kinds of activities such as card games, puzzles, and different crafts. They have a list of what is available for each day and it's more than adequate.

I toured Brookdale Monroe for my dad, and it was very clean and seemed to be a happy place. The staff was excellent. The bathrooms in the rooms were large and spacious. The rooms were carpeted, but I think they should be hardwoods. They were clean and well taken care of. But my biggest thing was the big bathroom; that was nice.
I have not tried their food, but I saw it and it looked good. The dining area looked great. It was very clean and well thought out. I liked that they put live displays of each meal out.
When I went in there, there were lots of folks out doing group activities. They have patios, gardens, and very well-maintained grounds.

I checked the assisted living at Brookdale Monroe. I liked the layout of it, and I think it's very typical in assisted living places, one wing smelled a little. I want to say less clean or less new than the other wing but maybe it just needed to be upgraded a little bit or something.

We liked Brookdale Monroe, but it was more than we can afford. They were very nice people who seemed like they had a nice place in there. They gave us a tour and were very nice and personable. The room was empty, but it was clean and had necessities, like a refrigerator. They walked us through the dining area, which looked nice and clean, and the people there said the food was very good.

We checked out Brookdale Monroe. The place is very nice, but they are so expensive. We thought that they were not as willing to help the individual. Some of the staff are exceptional, but they do not return phone calls when they tell you they would.

Brookdale Monroe is very nice. They have sing-alongs, scenic drives, movie nights, ice cream socials, and bingo. They have two dining rooms, and the residents can choose where they want to go to. They have a pretty nice apartment. They just put a new carpet in and painted the walls. It looks pretty new. It has a little fridge, a sink, a counter, and a little place to eat.

Emeritus at Monroe was too expensive for our taste. They charged a lot of money for an upstairs apartment that was very small and there was nothing in it except a small refrigerator, a small stove, a living room and a kitchen together. It was not worth it. We can live in a trailer or an apartment cheaper than that. They were really expensive for the apartment that they wanted sold to us, which was in the building itself and not an individual apartment. They do have some, but they were all filled up that for what they sold us, which was upstairs, we would have to take the elevator up and down, and my husband has a wheelchair so it wouldn't be suitable for us. We did not really look at all of it. We were not interested because they were too expensive. They were courteous, but that was about it. I think it is outrageous to charge senior citizens that much in the first place.
