I stayed at Richland Rehabilitation Center. It was clean. The food was goodand had a lot of fiber in it. The nurses were excellent, and their care was phenomenal. They provided entertainment, so there was always something to do, and I was very busy when I was there. It was a very good place. If you have to be in a place like that, then it's a good place to be. I think people should certainly look into it. There isn't a smell. If you're able to get up and go to the dining room, you're encouraged to do that. Otherwise, you take your meals in your room.

In the last two years, I have been in a care center twice. Richland Rehab Center is where I stayed. The people were great; the nurses, the helpers, all of the people were really good. I think they try to make it the best experience it could possibly be. In places like that, the food is always a problem because they have to deal with so many different problems with what people can and can't eat due to diet restrictions and all. As a whole, it was a great experience for me. It's one of those things you don't want to have to do, but if you have to, these people were great.

The Prestige Assisted Living is in the same building as Richland Rehab. They are run by the same company. For two months, my mom was in Richland Rehab because she needed physical therapy. It was a wonderful experience. She didn't experience the assisted living side, but she did visit the site. I think the staff was really good. If mom was to move in, she would have to bring her own bed and things. The room looked adequate. Some of the other residents said that it takes a long time for things to get fixed. In the one room that I looked at, the carpet was dirty and it needed painting. The room had a sink, and the bathroom was big enough to fit a wheelchair. It was a little bit older. There were other people I could see that had their room decorated. It looked like they needed more staff to do the cleaning, but I could have walked in when everybody went back to their rooms. Their dining area was nice.

Dad was at Richland Rehab. When he had his stroke in July after he left the hospital nine days later, he went to an Acute Care Hospital in Post Falls Idaho for three weeks. They had great staff at Richland Rehab. Their physical therapy people were wonderful -- their occupational people and the speech therapy guide that dad worked with. Her name was Eve; she was awesome.
I like the organization to some extent; everybody had a jar. If you didn’t talk with the person that you had an issue with, there was one person you could you go to, and they would tell you to go. I thought the case nurse was that person.
She learned how to eat there. She was able to not use nutrition in the tube anymore. He made great progress there, and they have a doctor there one day a week. They had an NARNP, and there’s just no way that the doctor could see all those people in one day a week. A lot of the responsibility was to the nurse practitioner. We kept the nurse practitioner so we can have an easily flow. It was really bizarre how all of that crap works.
The staff that he worked with there was only one or two that he didn’t care for. When he said he doesn’t care for him, then he has seen something that was perceived to him as being lazy and not doing work. That doesn’t mean that was true, that’s just what he perceived it as.
