When I was at The Retreat at Fishersville, I asked what if our money runs out and what if our long-term care insurance runs out. Do they accept Medicaid? They do not. The person who did the tour was excellent, answered all kinds of questions, and was very knowledgeable. I appreciated the tour. They were very nice. I would be very comfortable there. The rooms were sufficient for the stage that I would be in if I were going there. All of the rooms I visited had kitchenettes. They had places where you could go outside and it was an attractive place. They said I could make an appointment to come back for a meal. There were facilities where they had activities. They had a place where they could go to see movies. They had a little commissary where they could go to get snacks and just have coffee together. They had an exercise room, and they go on field trips.

I have visited The Retreat at Fishersville, and I love the place. It was just more expensive than the community we ended up choosing. They showed me a studio, a 1-bedroom, and a basic nursing home room. They were fine. They had day trips. They had a library and an activity room. They had things like bingo. They also had a courtyard and patios.

My parents moved into The Retreat at Fishersville. They've exceeded my expectations, they've been wonderful, and I couldn't be happier with the way they worked with myself and my parents. The rooms were clean and painted, and everything's been tip-top and in new condition. The staff has been absolutely wonderful, very kind, patient, and caring. On the first day, I ate a meal there, and it was very good. The place is very clean and they're very welcoming, but there's not a great deal going because of the COVID virus.

We chose The Retreat of Fishersville because the cost was affordable. The nursing staff seemed very knowledgeable and very kind. They're very willing to work with my Aunt's unique preferences and personality. I chose the place because I felt confident that the staff would be able to appropriately care for my aunt who has unique challenges and some unique strengths as well. Also, they were very positive and very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable that my aunt would be well cared for. The facility seemed very clean, very well kept but it's mostly the people who seemed happy to work there which isn't always the case with nursing facilities. There were nursing stations and it was a circle so that nobody can get lost. When people are wandering about or wheeling through the halls in their wheelchairs or using their walkers, even if they forget where they are, they just keep walking and they would end up where they need to be. It's a big circle which is helpful so they have the ability to actually be outside in a nice area that protects them and nobody is able to kind of wander out without anybody knowing. I felt good about that. I'm not sure if there were a lot of amenities per se, but they have a cafeteria for breakfast, lunch and dinner where they can sit in small groups. They have an activities director who's amazing. They had a bible study group, my aunt loves bible studies and they have it every other week and it made me really happy for her. She loves to go to bible studies. They have a lot of arts and crafts and a lot of trips outside. In terms of amenities, they have their PT and the OT staff on-site. They also have a physician, a hairdresser, and the ability to get your nails cut on-site. With activities, bible studies is my favorite thing so once I heard they have bible studies, I was happy. They also go on trips, shopping, arts and crafts, dances and physical activities.

I did an in-person tour of The Retreat at Fishersville. I was very impressed with it. That was a very nice facility. They're brand new physically too. They're very professional and very welcoming. They did have an empty room that they were allowed to open and let me see it, and we did go into the dining room. The dining area was a nice, open, brightly lit format with a courtyard on the sides, so it had lots of extra light coming in. A large, fabric, patient's chair, they had wheels on them, but it looked like they were heavy chairs otherwise. It looked like it was a very clean environment, it was very inviting and relaxing, neutral colors, and just pleasant. The bedroom, I think they call it a semi-private because you have two rooms and a Jack and Jill bathroom. We couldn't go all the way in, I could just look in through the doorway, but from what I could tell, it was a nice looking facility. The room looked like it would fulfill the needs. It was also very close to the hospital.
