I placed my parents, both with Alzheimer’s in 2017. It was clean and I felt like my parents got decent care for a few years. My father died in 2020 during Covid, and when i got back in to my mothers room after Covid restriction were lifted, I was horrified. I found my mother in a twin bed with no sheets, no blankets and clothes I had never seen before. Her clothes were all gone, her towels were gone, her shoes were gone.. and she had other people clothes on. I found dirty diapers on the windowsill, bathroom sink and toilet clogged. It was disgusting, and all this stuff in her room that was not hers and was stuff shoved in a wardrobe. Just the most terrible care, I reported them to the state and the state licensing person was also horrified. I have had employees embarrassed by the care and keeping of my mom and taken me aside to apologize. I am moving my mom in the coming weeks. I just can’t discourage you enough to avoid this dump. The worst!

My wife is now in Poet's Walk Fredericksburg. They do dementia-only patients, the place is vibrant and it's bright. It just doesn't compare to the other places. The staff has been very professional, very friendly and they seem very caring. Their dining area looks immaculate. It appears that every time I went to visit there, they had lots of activities. They have birdwatching, they have a little couple of birds in a cage, they had lots of activities going on, and singing at a church service on Sunday. They have a garden and the residents help plant stuff in the garden, they also have a movie room full of people. The staff just seem so professional and so caring, almost like they were family and simulating the patients into the family. The value for the money is very good.

My tour at Poet's Walk Fredericksburg was fine. I visited the memory care, but they felt my husband was not ready for memory care. I thought the representative represented the facility very well, and I thought it looked nice, clean, and well-kept. They have a beauty shop, a barbershop, library, dining room, and a garden. I thought it looked very good. Of course, it felt like an institution. They all felt like institutions.

I toured Poet's Walk Fredericksburg for my mom. I visited in 2018. It was an older facility but still built the same way as the other Poet's Walk I have seen. They have an à la carte menu for level of care, so their base price was lower, but then you add on the price for the level of care that the resident needs. It is a sixty-five-to-sixty-eight-bed facility. It's clean and very well appointed. The residents can bring their own furniture, which most did. Again, it was an older facility. You could tell, but at the same time you couldn't tell. The vibes I got there were good. I didn't see any unhappy people at the time I was there. They actually had somebody in the -- I don't know what to call it -- out in the main area singing or something. And there were residents sitting in chairs around him clapping or whatever, but they had activities going on there. They had an aviary there and gardens. I may have chosen Poets Walk in Fredericksburg, but based on where I'll be living, the other location was closer. They had a puzzle area, a craft area, and games. They take them on outings. They have their own little short bus that will take them on outings -- those who are able to do that. They have birdhouses and stuff out in the gardens. They have a garden on each wing. They have a snack bar that is open, and the residents can walk up to it. If they were thirsty, they could get a cup and a drink -- lemonade or something -- at this snack-bar area. But I'm sure if a resident said they were thirsty or something, the caregiver would take them up there and she could help them out.

Poet's Walk Fredericksburg wasn't as well maintained as the other facilities I've visited. I thought things were getting a little shabby, and they haven't been updated. It was more cosmetic. I think they just need to spruce things up. I thought the staff was wonderful. They were very compassionate, and they did a lot of follow-ups. They spent a lot of time on the phone with me. In my understanding, they have very impaired memory care clients. My husband is not quite as impaired as the memory care population they serve. They also have a waiting list there, so I couldn't put my husband there anyway. They have a lot of amenities, but I'm not sure that's what the population really needs. It's kind of homey though.

My father will be moving into Poet's Walk Fredericksburg. There are six people ahead of him right now. I like it because the staff seemed very friendly. They are more geared towards memory care and they had activities geared towards that. They have different hallways so they will not forget where they are. The rooms were pretty spacious and nice; I like them. You can have a semi-private or a private room. It is pretty spacious for one person, and you can bring your own furniture in. They have a box outside the door where they could put their pictures from the families like a memory box. The rooms have walk-in showers (not a tub), but they have a separate room called spa and there is a bathtub in there. The dining room was nice. They had TVs in the common area, memory games and two courtyards. The building goes all the way around. If they wanted to walk around like a track, they could. It is about a mile, and it is all connected like in a circle.

The reason I chose Poet's Walk Fredericksburg was because my wife has pretty severe dementia, and it's a memory care facility only. Her experience there so far is very good. The staff is very good, friendly, and transparent. I can call whenever I have a question, and I haven't had any problems. She seems to like the food; she's picky at breakfast, but she eats their lunch and dinner. I think the food has been pretty good, as she's been eating it. The facilities are very good, and I like that it's open air. They have two outside gardens where they can sit, the rooms have either hardwood or faux-hardwood floors, and it's very nice. They do a lot of activities to keep them more social and active. She's been in quarantine for about a week, but she's out walking because they let the patients walk -- that's what they do with dementia patients. I haven't had a problem with the staff. I've seen the activities; they keep us posted every day with what's going on and sends us little photos. It's all kind of expensive, but they're equivalent to other places who don't offer as many services.

We moved my mother into Poet's Walk Fredericksburg. I think they're very thorough, we're having a wonderful time, and she's doing some great things. The only issue we've had is continually repetitious loss of hearing aids, and we're all trying to work on that. The staff is very, very nice, really, really caring, struggling during all of these times, and very positive. Mom has no complaints with the food, and she's eating fine. They have a rose garden, another side garden, and they have two very nice enclosed, safe outdoor areas.

If you are looking for Supportive living care for a loved one with Dementia/Altimerzin Fredericksburg...look no further- Poet’s Walk, is it!!!! Taking your loved one from their own home and placing them in to any alternative living situation is one of the hardest things in life! Thanks to Poet’s Walk and their incredibly understanding, caring, knowledgeable, and supportive staff, for us this process has successfully ended in tears of joy. From the initial visit, in their private comforting conference room, where they had been frank but caring. They helped us understand the process and answered every question with kindness and respect. To literally holding our hands when overwhelmed, scared, and exhausted and encouraging us often. Every visit from the first, thru several days moving things in for mom, we were repeated greeted by upbeat, engaging staff that always had a simile. Smiles and Hellos not just for us, but each resident the staff encountered. The home is full of LIFE! Over several days we witnessed residents engaged in an array of activities, therapies, conversation, and staff truly encouraging them out of their rooms and into interacting. One of our great fears was that this disease has characteristics in which you worry your loved one will be “kicked - out” or worse avoided. Not here! They understand that these characteristics are part of the disease. Witnessing this lively and consistent interaction, further assures you that they are in the right place. The facility is beautifully decorated and has a very upscale hotel, co-op look. We especially like the Trending Technology feature. I also like that my father is able to participate, share , learn, and connect with other spouses/loved one in groups and meetings. Although Mom will never be in her house again, thanks to all at Poet’s Walk, Fredericksburg…. she is now home

My wife is in Poet's Walk Fredericksburg. They're good. They're considered, the best in the area. They're good people there, but they bring in sometimes inexperienced caregivers. There are some good ones that you develop a relationship with and you may have the same person five nights a week. The food is good, and they have a lot of activities. They have music and entertainment. It's a nice place. They do the best they can for what they have.

Poet’s Walk Fredericksburg was very nice, and the people were professional. They had a large variety of activities, and they tried to cater to everyone's needs to make sure everyone would be involved somehow. While I was there, they were playing a game that the residents seemed to be enjoying.

I like Poet’s Walk and the people who work there. It is a new facility, and they have all the necessary people and items for memory care. My sister is enjoying it. I was impressed with the staff. They are very competent, and they know what they are doing.

I visited Poets Walk and we went there in hopes that the price would be a little bit less and it was a little bit less but not enough to counteract a 50-mile drive from where we live. This place was brand-new and is just for memory-care people only, no assisted living. Very nice staff, very friendly, lovely facility because it's brand new and again it's only for people with dementia. It's much more spacious because they have more land there. People can walk outside but not really wander away. They have a special room for stimulation, based on a Swedish theory or methodology for caring for people with memory loss. They had a beauty shop, pets therapy; everything looked really nice. They had separate dining rooms for people with moderate dementia versus people with advanced dementia. It really looked lovely and the only reason we didn't pick that place because it was 15% less than the place in this area but not 50% less and I felt like driving an hour away to Fredericksberg would be too inconvenient to be able to visit my mom enough frequently.

Poet’s Walk at Fredericksburg is very clean. It looks like a luxury hotel and it is a brand new facility. There’s plenty of room for the residents to walk. It is big, bright, and beautiful. There are outside spaces that are enclosed for the resident’s security. It just looks very inviting. The nurse that is in-charge was fantastic. They want to do the assessment of my husband at our home because they believe that they will get a better feel for the patient so this nurse in-charge came to my home to do the assessment. My husband and I had no idea the assessment was already being done. When I went there, the residents were having snacks. Whenever they wanted a snack, they could freely get a snack. Some of the residents were in a lounge watching TV. They have a Snoezelen Room. When the patients get anxious, they can go into it. It’s very relaxing with decent stimuli for the patients. The staff here are so nice and understanding. They assured me that my husband will be well-cared for.
