I did an in-person tour of Commonwealth Senior Living at South Boston, and my mother was really familiar with it. I was impressed, it looked very nice, comfortable, kind of homey looking. It had a relaxed atmosphere. The person who accommodated me was very pleasant, very knowledgeable about the facilities. The dining area was very nice. Before COVID they had activities for the residents, they had singing three times a month, they had some entertainment, local people would come in, they would either sing or play musical instruments, and they do crafts, but we didn't actually see any of it while we were there.

My Mom has lived at Commonwealth for 7 years, and I cannot tell you how wonderful this facility is. The staff are warm and caring and have become her extended family. They are passionate about big things like quality nursing, and about little things like keeping her room super clean and well maintained. The food is good and the activities are plentiful. My dad also lived at Commonwealth for a few years before he passed, and they were incredibly kind to him and supportive of the entire family.

I visited Commonwealth Assisted Living. The lady that showed me around was very nice. I liked that place very much, but it was very expensive. They had a very nice cafeteria. It was clean and neat. The lady showed me the rooms. You could have a single room if you liked or a double room. I liked the location. The people were very nice, and I was very happy with it.

We spent only 20 days in what started at the ER (5 trips to the ER within 8 weeks). Mom is approaching 97 years old and has lived alone since Dad died in 1983. Slowly, she has lost her independence and mobility, but still walks with a walker. Problems intensified with what I believe was improper medication. She has diminished eyesight and is unable to real labels. With much assistance at the Halifax Regional Hospital, I was able to obtain a private room at Commonwealth Assisted Living at South Boston. The staff was much like working with family. Thanks to everyone at CAL. God bless and look for us back! PS: Mom chose to return home…our reason for leaving.

Somerset was my very first choice. It was so beautiful and very cozy. I talked extensively with the staff there and they were so pleasant, so helpful and very accommodating. The location is ideal for my mother because she lives in Hamilton. However, it was not affordable.
