I did a tour of The Chamberlin. For an old building, it looks like everything has been renewed inside. It's right on the waterfront, I see the ships go by and all that. The rooms are roomy, they got a lot of room in there. The restaurant is on the first floor, it's elegant. There are one, and two-bedroom apartments. They had an indoor swimming pool and a gymnasium. There's a doctor on call all the time. There's a library and a restaurant downstairs. We ate there before we went on their tour.

I went to The Chamberlin, and I like it. I've been there before and looked at it, so this was my second time to visit there. I like the facility, and if I decide to move to an independent living facility, that would be the place I'd go, because it's located on the water, which I prefer. The apartments were very nice. I saw four of them when I was there. The layouts are a little different in each one. Some of them were larger than others, but very nice, very clean, and very nice looking. The staff was very knowledgeable. The lady that took me around was fairly new, but she seemed to be very knowledgeable. I didn't really see the residents doing any activities while I was there, but they have a pool, and they have crafts and things that residents can do. The only thing is that, if you have an animal, I had asked the staff what was the weight, but I never got a call back on that, so that would be my reason for not giving her a five.

I was able to visit The Chamberlin in Hampton. As far as I know, it's pretty much independent living. I don't know if I have anything else and I didn't ask about it.
I liked it. It was unique and it's right on the Chesapeake Bay so its location was particularly interesting. It's an older building that has been updated. It used to be a hotel, I guess, and it's been upgraded into senior living. The amenities and everything were nice. They had an indoor swimming pool and there's a beach outside which is just within walking distance. I was quite impressed with it.
They had done a pretty nice job on all the common areas. All the rooms had granite countertops and that kind of stuff too so they had updated it nicely.

I toured The Chamberlin. It's very accommodating and very open. The staff was very knowledgeable and open to suggestions on how best decide for independent living. The layout was modern. The rooms were clean. The maintenance looked like it was in great upkeep. I could say many, many wonderful things about it. If I were ready to go now, I would probably go there.

The Chamberlin is beautiful, but I think it is a little bit out of my sister's price range. If I didn't own a home and have my grandchildren and great grandchildren stay with me, I would move into The Chamberlin tomorrow. I love the water, and it has a perfect water view.
They showed me a one-bedroom, a two-bedroom, and a studio. All of them were really nicely set-up. The whole place is just outstanding. I can't say any more. The person that showed me around was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I gave it the white glove test, touching certain things just to get an idea; everything was spotless. I gave it a nose test, and it was fresh, fresh, and fresh. All the amenities were just outstanding. They were very informative and very straightforward. They gave me the pricing and everything.

I toured The Chamberlin, and it is beautiful. I don't so much like where it is located, but once you get inside, the place is awesome and so far out of everywhere that I've looked. That's one of them that stands out to me. I like the setup and all the amenities that they have.
Miss Rebecca, the one who took me on tour, is awesome. She was respectful, and we felt like we were touring someplace, a historic place, with an old friend. When I say old friend, I don't mean that she's old, I just mean like somebody that you know from way back.
They go by the square footage, the first one that she showed me, I would say it was a 2-bedroom apartment because that's all I know. I'm not so much acquainted with the square footage, but it was similar to where I'm at now, it is just a teeny bit smaller. But it has everything that I have here.
The kitchen is well-equipped. They have the same counters that I have here, the darkish with the black marble countertops, and everything is set up beautifully. The laundry area is great. I like the idea of the laundry in the apartment. That was something that I was fascinated by. I forgot to ask them if you can bring your own washer and dryer or if you have to use the one that they have set up in the apartment.
They have an exercise room, which is huge. It's like a fitness exercise. You can have physical therapy done there, too. They have an indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and they have all kinds of activities like bingo. They have a whole lot of stuff to choose from. You cannot get tired or bored or anything like that with them.
They offer one meal a day, but you have a lot to choose from. And you can pay extra if you want extra food as well or have extra meals as well.
Somebody picks up your laundry and does it if you want that done so, and that's all part of your thing.
You have the beach views and the ocean views, and you can go on any floor and sit out and enjoy the scenery, the breeze, the bird watching, the whales coming in, and the ships coming in.

My wife and I have been staying in The Chamberlin for two months now. It's just within a radius of two miles, and it's beautiful. We are on the Atlantic, there's a great seafood restaurant, and there are really nice, old trees in Fort Monroe. The staff is 100% perfect. They serve us a meal a day, and they're very kind and thoughtful. They clean the apartments biweekly and do an awesome job with that. They're just a very attentive staff.
The food is really good here. It's a little bit bland for my taste, though. I'd like it to be a little spicier, but of course, they're feeding old people, so they're not able to handle the spices. Overall, it's still good food. They have an indoor pool, a hair salon, an exercise room, and a shower room for after exercise or swimming. They're just coming out of COVID, so they are still starting to open up more programs, like get-togethers for meals.
The outside of the facility is really nice. It has a lot of tree cover, and you're right on the edge of the ocean and the bay, so the fishing is really good. It's a safe community and then you have beaches just down the road, within walking distance.

The Chamberlin is a wonderful place right on the Chesapeake Bay. It's so beautiful. The reason I went with that is because the rent was guaranteed for life. As long as I stay there, I don't have any increase. I signed the contract and got the apartment and everything.
It is independent living and the people there are just so wonderful. I found it to be very friendly, very warm and receiving, and very accommodating to seniors. A lot of wonderful senior activities are planned. I just fell in love with it, and the apartment was gorgeous.
When you come in, you come up to the second floor, which is where the grand lobby is. Most of the activities happen there in the grand lobby. They have activities up on the ninth floor, which has a solarium and a patio area. The solarium is all glass windows. And on the patio, you get a chance to sit out there and look over the bay and see all the ship activity that comes through there. They have a swimming pool indoors, that's on the first floor, and they have an exercise room. They have physical therapy if people need that. They have a beauty salon that takes care of men and women, a billiard room I'd call it, and they do other things there as well in that room, like they play poker or have a pool, and then they have a craft room. A lot of people paint there, it's an ideal setting for painting. I've been down in that room and learned a craft or two from there.
The major dining room, the Chesapeake Bay dining room, is formal dining. Right now, they're still not allowing people from the outside. It's tablecloths, and they serve you; you order food ahead of time with whatever you want. We have a wonderful chef. He comes out all the time and he asks if everything is OK. The soup is out of this world. I could go and have a soup every day and be perfectly happy.
I have a walker and it still OK. They have the people with the little Jazzys or whatever they call motorized wheelchair type things.
The staff members are exceptional, because during the pandemic the executive director stayed right there in the facility so that she could help out in any way that was necessary. Because a lot of the services were done to the rooms, she was there to make sure everything went so smoothly. They were awesome. The lady in charge of all the senior activities and stuff, she would do hallway exercises, and it was so much fun. You could come to the doorway of your apartment and do exercising. It was so cute.
When to see the place, I think it was about a year and a half ago maybe that I went to see the place, they had a chef that came from Washington, from the president's White House. But not too long ago he decided to move along. So, then we got this new chef. But anyhow, so they just have quality food. They get like salmon and shrimp and lobster and steak. Every Thursday is a steak night, and they just fix it perfectly. It's excellent.
The ambiance itself is five, but the capability of maintenance is four because it's so old. It's one hundred years old and there's just things that they can't get the same as the facade and stuff like that. So, you know, it doesn't always look the best in every place. But the grand lobby and all the grand rooms -- my apartment is one of those grand rooms that has 20-foot ceilings -- is just absolutely fantastic. There you have some areas that aren't perfect, but it's so beautiful.

The Chamberlin was really gorgeous, and the place was beautiful. I would love to move there but I just can't afford that; it was a little steep for me. I really loved the staff, they were excellent. I saw a one-bedroom; they were really gorgeous. I saw everything, the pool, the gym, and the banquet halls. They showed me everything and it was really a beautiful place. They showed me the menu, it was excellent. Everything was excellent.
I had a girlfriend that actually stayed there. One time she told me the food was excellent. I just thought it was really a beautiful place and I just loved the stuff that they offered. The community seemed to be like a family, and they told me the entire place was their home. Each person had their individual room, but they told the residents that the whole building was considered their personal home. They had a lot of things. They even had a choir who liked to sing, and there was just so many beautiful things that they offered, especially exercise classes, the pool, the heated pool, the gym, and even on-site physical therapists.

I really liked the Chamberlin. It's excellent, and everything is nice. It's outstanding, there's nothing bad I can say bad about it. The rooms were nice, and I loved the location. I really liked the staff member, she was very nice. They provide everything like housekeeping, and the food is excellent. That's the only one I was interested in. It had the things I really liked.

I chose the Chamberlin because it's beautiful, on the water, and in a historic building. It suited me because the apartments are huge, they gave us one free meal, have all the utilities included, and they clean the place twice a month. They have a huge indoor pool for year-round use, they've got a huge exercise program, concierge services that take you places, and an active senior community there.

The Chamberlin is remarkable, beautiful, and historically fascinating. My parents live about two miles from there, so we have known The Chamberlin our whole lives when it was a hotel. It's very elegant and upscale, although the prices are reasonable. The apartments are beautiful. The activities are very interesting. They have historical lectures and tours. The grounds are gorgeous and include beautiful gardens and a view of Hampton Road, which for those of us who grew up in that area, is a wonderful thing. The people are dressed more nicely than my parents and are vital and engaged.

We went to The Chamberlin. I liked it more than the others we visited. It's a historic hotel that has been renovated, so the rooms were large and had lots of nice amenities space. We had been there for a Sunday brunch in the past, and the food was very good. We were escorted by one of the residents who spoke very highly of the place. She was enthusiastic and friendly. They seemed to have a good program, but I didn't observe any activities. They had a library, an exercise area, and a nice party room on the top floor overlooking the Chesapeake Bay.

I was extremely impressed with this facility. We were invited over to have Sunday brunch and the food and restaurant was outstanding. My wife and I were taken on a tour of the facility and we were impressed with the renovations and all of the scenic views. One of our favorite views was from the 9th Floor open patio that gave you a spectacular view of the Chesapeake Bay and the surrounding area. We had a wonderful time visiting and highly recommend it to others.

I’ve been to The Chamberlin to see someone for lunch, and I’ve also been there for lunch. It’s a beautiful place and a beautiful location. The facilities are beautiful. It has anything you want to have: indoor/outdoor swimming pool where you have the ocean right out there so you can go out and swim. You have a workout gym. The food is good.

The Chamberlin was nice. I visited it because of its location. The grounds were pretty. I saw one room, it was an occupied room, but we had permission to look in. It was a one-bedroom unit. The dining area looked nice. I liked the view. It looked out over the river. The staff we met seemed very nice.

The Chamberlin used to be a hotel, and it is gorgeous. It is a lovely community; indoor swimming and everything that you can think of, they have. I don't think they had a high entrance fee.

The Chamberlin is wonderful, it's just incredible. The facility is incredibly beautiful. It's right on the water, right on the ocean. The food is good, the people are very helpful, and it's reasonably priced. They also are just starting an assisted living program, which we are not involved with at the moment, but that's good to know. My mother-in-law has a three-room apartment, one bedroom and two bathrooms, with a galley, kitchen, living room and dining room combination. They have a lot of activities, which are really nice that residents can participate in, and they try to encourage new residents to participate in, which is good. The restaurant is excellent and open to the public. They have a package that provides transportation and a meal a day or how many meals you want to have. They have housekeeping once every other week. It's been really a very positive experience. The facility is incredibly beautiful.

The common area of the apartments in The Chamberlin were small including the living room and kitchen. The bedroom was okay and the kitchen area had a breakfast bar. Their bathrooms were not modern, they were standard and nothing extraordinary, no upgraded lighting fixtures. Even if it was an old facility, it was well-kept but not well-cared for and it had been painted too many times. They had an activity room which was small, the library had a lot of books but there was only one table. They also had a bistro where you could get coffee all day long with about six tables and it looked like an old-fashioned lunch counter. One thing was the traffic going there was awful.
