PROS: Almost all the staff I have encountered in my father's 2 years at Ginter Hall are very friendly, helpful, and really care about the residents. There are many 4-star and 5-star direct care staff who provide excellent care and can teach new CNAs/Medtechs what good care looks like. The executive director and director of nursing ask for feedback and act on the concerns, complaints, and suggestions I've brought to them. They are updating the physical environment so residents and their guests can have a pleasant, comfortable place to relax and visit. Good, fair rates: the care, food, accommodations, and activities (Bingo, birthday parties, church groups, music, exercise time, etc.) are comparable to more pricey Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs).
CONS: As in all ALFs, good help is hard to find and keep, and at GH there are 1-star and 2-star direct care staff members who bring the overall staff rating down. For the acuity of residents, I feel all the direct care staff should be CNAs or working toward certification.
No place is perfect, and if your loved one isn't getting the care you signed up for, tell the facility and work with them to get it right.
This facility is worth considering. They care about their residents and work hard every day to get things right.

Ginter Hall was overly odoriferous. That was the first impression as you walked in the door. The activity room in the section we were looking at had a lot of really handicapped people, and those with dementia and Alzheimer's, and they were just kind of gathered around and sitting there. It wasn't a good first impression. The entrance area was nice; it was just a little on the dark side.

I visited Ginter Hall, and it's great. The rooms were great, they had very nice activities, and the dining area was very clean and spacious. The staff was very caring and very engaged.
