My dad has moved into Arden Courts of Fair Oaks. This place only does memory care. They're fantastic. He progressed very quickly. We had decided on this place, but the staff was able to move him in earlier than we had planned on because he needed it, so they have been accommodating. All the staff are very caring and kind. We don't want him to be there, but if he has to be anywhere, this is where we would want him to be. The layout is lovely. They have four separate neighborhoods. The grounds are beautiful. Everything is clean, well-kept, and bright. Then they have little nooks around each section, like a little French cafe, a little beach area, and a nursing area. Then they have a community center where everybody has snacks in the afternoon and watches movies or plays games. It's always very bright, and everybody that works there is so friendly. I have not tried the food, but it smells delicious. They have a very varied menu. I haven't seen the same thing on the menu since my dad has been there. It smells delicious, and he likes it, so that's really all that matters. We did a lot of shopping around beforehand, and this one is not affordable, but it's reasonable for the level of care.

Arden Courts of Fair Oaks is all-inclusive so there's more freedom and my sister is more active. Instead of staying on just one floor, she has more freedom to roam since all of it is memory care. The staff is 100% trained for dementia and memory care. While she's been here she's been quite well, the staff is very good with her and they take care of her medication so she's done well. This community has high reviews and I'm right with them on those high reviews. I have nothing bad to say about this place. It is very colorful and they're very family-oriented. I personally think that the value and money there is high, but considering the cost of other places, I think they're just about on-target. If another place costs $7000 with memory care on just one floor, and this one is $8200 with more room for my sister to roam, I would happily pay for the $8200.

Arden Courts of Fair Oaks is very good at watching the residents and keeping them stable. I think what they're doing is just fine, but the activities are largely useless, although they're well-intentioned and they do a lot of activities depending on the personality of the person. I think they're doing a very good job in a very difficult situation. They kind of market the idea of having all these nurses and doctors, and I think they ended up being minimal. There's a geriatric psychiatrist who comes and I met him on one occasion; I don’t think he's doing much and I don't think he can do much, but I'm not criticizing him at all. I don't know what they could be doing better because I think most of what they try to do to increase care, activities, or treatment, but I don't think it would help that much in 90% of the cases. It would be much more expensive on their behalf to try to do it, but I don't think it would have much effect at all. I guess I'm just getting a more realistic view of what really constitutes a memory care facility where half the people are fairly advanced dementia cases. They're being very well taken care of at Arden, but what you can really do for the people and my wife is so limited that it's kind of a real learning experience. The people were obviously being overseen by caregivers and LPNs, so it's a very well-maintained facility. You don't walk in unannounced and find things that are less than perfectly clean.

Arden Courts of Fair Oaks is a fantastic facility. My mom (94) with dementia but still maintains her full mobility has been a resident for 6 months. I'm a long distance caregiver so I depend very heavily on the staff and Director for help, guidance and expertise. My mom is still a stubborn, fiercely independent woman and we have held our breath an how she would do in residential care. I can say she is thriving, happy, engaged and loves the food, staff and friendship/community she has gained at Fair Oaks. This is totally opposite of what family anticipated -- but because of AC staff's trusted expertise, dedication solely to memory care; loving and dedicated director -- mom is thriving and having happy days here. I recently visited over a couple days and can honestly report that AC is clean, tidy, residents are out and about and engaged in activities; residents are clean, staff are always treating all residents respectfully and assisting them to maintain their independence. Wide range of activities and outings offered so that each resident can live to their potential. The entire facility, rooms, grounds are kept clean and tidy, safe. No smells. Residents seemed to enjoy the food and snacks. I've researched and visited several memory care and AL over the last few years and Arden Courts Fair Oaks is by far the best. Director and Staff make the difference here. Their care and pride is obvious.

My wife has been here at Arden Courts of Fair Oaks for 3 and 1/2 years. We have no issues with them. Cleanliness is very good. The staff members are competent. Dining is excellent. They have activities, but my wife is not very active anymore. However, in general, they have activities. Again, the staff is attentive ,and the food is good.

My husband's father is at Arden Courts of Fair Oaks, and he seems to be doing fine there. It looks like they keep it clean, and the residents seem happy and are not just lying around like in some places. They keep them pretty active. The place smells clean. They have different classes and singing groups. The place is wide open.

I visited Arden Courts and they were only for Alzheimer's and dementia, so no regular assisted living. They're entirely focused on memory care, therefor the building, the structure and the layout are all set up just to make it easier for people with dementia to get around so that's a plus. The staff seemed great, really great and seemed knowledgeable for caring for people with dementia. The only drawback was they had small bedrooms and the bathroom was a sink and a toilet but no shower. It was like a dorm with one shower on a wing and I did not like that because my mom needs to be closed to the toilet and the shower and I didn't want her traipsing down the hallway in a bathroom and taking a shower where men are showering, so that was the main reason to not go with them. It was cute, it was just one level with four different wings, and they made it so that people with dementia could walk outside, they felt like they were walking outside but the whole place was fenced in but they wouldn't feel like they were fenced in. They would feel like they had the ability to go outside. It was really nice. They can improve by putting showers in the rooms.

Arden Courts of Fair Oaks was okay. It was clean. I like that it has a lot of enclosed walking areas. The only person I met was the marketing person. I was never introduced to any other staff. I know she is very knowledgeable but she is not the one who is going to take care of my husband. Their dining area was nice.

Arden Courts of Fair Oaks is fantastic, and we couldn't ask for anything better. They are taking excellent care of my dad. The staff is very attentive and very caring. They are just wonderful. It is a lot of work to work in a place like that, but everyone is well-groomed and clean, and wearing clean clothes. They have a schedule, and they stick to it as much as they can. They actually have all kinds of activities daily. They have a courtyard where the residents can walk outside on their own, so there is a lot of space, and the ability to go outside is very nice for the residents. They do activities like daily trivia and exercises, and they have a men's club where they go on outings. I'd recommend it. We are very happy, very relieved that he is so well taken care of.

When I inquired as to whether I should put my mother, who is in the early stage of dementia, in a facility as restrictive as this one or somewhere not so restrictive I was told that it is suggested to families that isn't it better to move your loved one once instead of twice. I couldn't believe this is how a family should make a big decision as this. I would rather move my mother several times so as not to put her in a facility where people are so much worse off than her because if she has no one she can talk to at her level then she will lose ground pretty fast. She's not a pet or an object but someone I love and care about and want to see her live a long time. I will try to find a place where they are care about the individual.Just not a place I would consider nor recommend,.

I brought my Mother to Arden Courts in 2005 and it was the best decision I've ever made. At her apartment in the assisted living she was not getting out of bed in the morning, she missed meals and mom would not socialize. I had to go to her apartment every morning and night to give her medicine as she could not keep it straight. Through doctors' visits we found Mom had Alzheimer's, yet moving her to the secure area of the assisted living seemed like such a devastating change because it is "secure" and some people there were in later stages which were scary to me. My mom loved to be outdoors and she enjoyed walking and there was not freedom to keep up with these activities. Then someone told me to check out Arden Courts, an assisted living with walking areas inside as well as gazebos walking paths around the outside of the whole building! It was still difficult to make this move, but deep down I knew it was time. I came back to see how mom had adjusted after just 4 days and she was walking around smiling with a couple of new girlfriends! Mom also loved the activities and even participated. Her favorite activities were the broadway musicals and themes of Sinatra and Big Band music. My mom passed away a year ago November. She was blessed with 5 wonderful years at Fair Oaks Arden Courts. Because of what happened to my Mom, I felt lead to work for Arden Courts to help other people make the move with their loved ones. Thank you Arden Courts for what you did for my mom and for giving me purpose in my life.

Arden Courts is okay and seem very nice. They're focused on dementia and cognizance deficiencies, and they're the only ones who do that in the area. I would recommend them.

Arden Courts is a smaller scale facility specializing in Memory Care. Because it is smaller, they have a single-level floor plan. The floor plan is circular with no dead-end walls, designed for memory care. The residents have access to the outdoors without having to be assisted. There is freedom of movement. My mom is more mobile than most, so this allows her to walk around freely which helps maintain normalcy in her life.
