A Place Like No Other
June 19, 2018
Our Mom was a resident at Shenandoah Place for many years and I can say that it’s a place like no other. The owners, management team and staff are the most loving and compassionate people. Each & every staff member speaks and assists residents in a loving manner and usually with an arm around them. I’ve always seen them stop what they’re doing to just talk to a resident. Residents are treated like family. I commend the owners & management team for maintaining this level of staff performance throughout the years.
The facility is bright, airy and spotless. The rooms are huge with 2 closets and plenty of room to bring your own furniture. The living room is comfortably furnished as is the sun room. There are 2 outside porches where you can watch the rural scenery. The kitchen provides very tasty home cooked meals and tends to residents specific likes.
The Activities twice a day are geared towards both physical and mental stimulation. Often community organizations come and provide entertainment.
We feel blessed that Mom had so much love in her final years.

My wife is pretty happy in Shenandoah Terrace. The community is new, and my wife likes it. They are helping her with everything like bathing, dressing, toiletries, and food.

Shenandoah Place was wonderful. The leaders of the place, director, and the assistant director were fabulous people and very detailed. The place itself is dynamically nice. The rooms were huge, they are like living rooms, and people can decorate them anyway they want. The facility itself is large, airy, and very pleasant. It’s a regular assisted living room with no other things in it -- no kitchenette -- but the rooms were very large and attractive, and you can put your own stuff in it. They were doing some Halloween decorations when I was there, every week they have musicians coming in, and they have a chapel service once a week if anybody wants to attend.

The facility was beautiful, partially thanks to the amazing view (miles and miles of green fields and forest), and partially thanks to the warm antique interior. It didn't feel like a hospital, it felt like a home. From what we were shown, the food was homecooked by a talented chef, there was plenty of entertainment (performers, such as musicians and dancers, visited at least 3 times a week), and everything, especially the individual rooms, looked cozy and comfortable. We were impressed, but the reason why we couldn't use Shenandoah Place, and the reason why I've rated it 4 stars, is because the location is so distant. There is a small town next to it, but anybody coming from any reasonable location in Virginia would have to drive a considerable distance to reach the facility. Also, there was something lonely about it being in the middle of such a wide, unpopulated expanse. We weren't sure if father would like it, so we passed. It's easy to imagine someone finding a home there, though.

The Shenandoah Place was wonderful in every way. They are wonderful caring people who care about each residents needs. It is a beautiful place to stay long term or for a short stay. I highly recommend the Shenandoah Place to everyone.
