My grandfather currently lives at the Barrington at Hioaks and he cannot stop talking about how much he loves it here. He loves that they have a shuffleboard tournament every month, they have happy hour every Friday and they go out to restaurants and grocery stores every week!

I toured this community looking for my mother, she needed independent living with the possibility of eventually needing more help. One thing I though was very nice about this building was that as you need more help you don’t have to move rooms to another area. She would get to stay in her room for as long as she’d like. I know with another place I toured they kept all the different levels in separate areas which I didn’t care for.

I must say I was pleasantly surprised when I toured this facility. Everyone there was so friendly, if we passed someone during our tour they would stop and say hello. It made it feel more personal when I toured there, I didn’t feel like a stranger. I saw the construction plans and what everything is gonna look like and I’m impressed with how modern and elegant everything is going to look. The rooms there are very spacious for the amount of money they are charging. I went looking for my mother who is in a wheelchair and struggles to move around the facility she’s at now but I know that wouldn’t be a problem here.

The Towers is wonderful in so many ways. Clean and bright, smells wonderful, friendly staff, residents who look happy, clean, and well- cared for. Their rooms are spacious and inviting. Most significant is the TLC they give each family and how they address questions and concerns openly and honestly. To have a 3 year license with the state is truly commendable...Well done to all, as it is a team/community effort to deliver the consistent care and resident-centered programming that merits a 3 year license.

I moved my mother in the Towers over 6 months ago and myself and my family have been nothing short of very pleased! I toured a lot of buildings, before moving my mom in, and this community was the best AND most affordable! 5 Stars!

My parents are in The Towers Retirement Community. I liked it because the apartments are larger than most of the others that I visited, so they're roomier and more able to handle wheelchairs. It was also less expensive for the amount of room, too. The staff is friendly, caring, respond quickly when paged, smile, and always ready to help, so it's positive.

My mom moved into The Towers last August. The staff was is kind, very helpful, really friendly, and so far, she's very pleased. The grounds are very clean, and very well taken care of. It's convenient for relatives who visit her. She's in a 1-bedroom apartment, completely renovated, and beautiful. She has a totally redone walk-in shower, and it's very roomy. They clean once a week and everything is very nice.

The Towers has done a lot of renovations and remodeling in the last 6 months that my Mom has lived there. The new section looks really great! We have been nothing short of ecstatic with her nursing care and socialization she had been getting there! The truly deserve 5 Stars!

The staff at The Towers Retirement Community was nice. Everybody in it was nice. I didn't care for the layout of the building since it just seemed really closed in. The dining area was nice. They had art activities.

My mom was a resident at The Towers for a little over 3yrs. Mom loved living at The Towers. She had the cutest studio apartment with a great view it was perfect for her. In the time mom lived there she made lots of friends and participated in many activities especially chair exercise, bingo and Red Hat outings. She loved everyone at The Towers and they loved her. The entire Towers team offered compassion, love and support for mom and our family during all of her transitions. We were so grateful to have mom at such a special place with people who loved her as much as we did!

The Towers was so attentive and caring for the care of my mother. From the activities staff, to house keeping, to maintenance, everyone showed they cared. When she was moved to Memory Care that same attention continued even by some of the staff that were not assigned to that unit. We are so grateful for all their care and support!

My mother lived at The Towers in her final days. Our family felt very blessed to have had her at The Towers - she was cared for 24 hours a day by very compassionate staff. My mother lived in the dementia unit and her care was very appropriate with great activities, medicine management, dietary needs and staff interaction. We are thankful for the staff at The Towers and it will remain a special place for our family.

My mother was a resident for 3 three years and three months. She loved the Towers and the community residents and the staff loved her. Three months ago, her health failed rather rapidly. The Towers was there for us each step of the way offering compassion, love and support for mom. When mom was in the hospital, her only wish was to go "back to the Towers." It was truly a home of love for her and we are most appreciative of that. It was a great relief to our family that mom was taken of so well while a resident at the Towers.

The rooms at the Towers were 30% bigger. It's 650sq.ft versus 400sq.ft with the other facility we visited. Price was anywhere between $600 to $800 less per month. Security around is excellent. I had no issues at all. They had transportation, exercises and the food was very good. Mom feels more secure now.

Our mother was a resident. While there, it was recommended that she move on to a locked unit. While there, she ate less and was not participating in any activities. We had to hire a companion for her and supply Ensure. We overheard some staff using profanity on several occasions. We also overheard nursing staff in s discussion about another resident (we were in the general living area). The documentation on whether someone had their insulin. They also mentioned that their blood glucose levels were over 600. When we asked for records, we were never able to get them. They were in a location where it would take "a long time to find them". These records were less than a year old. After relocation, our mother is doing well on an unlocked unit. She's eating and participating in activities. Some staff are good but they end up leaving.

We’ve seen The Towers in Richmond and we really like the facility. It was very nice. That was probably one of our first choices. The staff was wonderful.

When I walked in the lobby, it was very nice. It was all decorated for Christmas already, even though it was only Thanksgiving. I think that is a good sign, because it puts me under the impression that they are cheery around the old-folks, and care about Holidays and having families visiting. The furniture and other objects in the lobby were also extremely nice. The furniture was antique and so beautiful. I would have loved to have furniture like that in my home, it was very luxurious. We then proceeded to the elevators and went upstairs to my boyfriend's grnadmothers' rooms. They were a very nice size and one of them was heavily decorated. They each had about three rooms including a private bathroom, which I liked. The room we had dinner in was a very nice size as well. I liked the fact that they had seperate rooms for meetings or dinner and it was just my boyfriend's family and me there, no strangers. That was also slightly impressive, and made things a lot less awkward.

The Towers has the feeling of an old hotel when you enter the lobby. The staff and residents are friendly and courteous. The individual apartments are quite spacious and nice! The one bedroom apartment my mom lives in has a private bathroom and separate bedroom. She loves to grow houseplants in the sunny windows. Her view includes the raised garden beds maintained by the residents, and plenty of flowers planted by The Towers. There's also a nice gazebo where the chef grills for special menues (like Labor Day!), and it also serves as a shady place to sit and rest outside. My Mom has lived there for a year and a half, and in that time she has made a lot of friends and participated in many of the organized activities. Meals are served in a dining room (where white linen is used for dinner). When my mom first got there, the food was quite good. Lately it's been hit or miss. Finally, I do like the way this facility encourages family visits and involvement. I have visited my mom several times for multiple days, and I have always felt welcomed and comfortable. The Towers provides exercise classes nearly every day and church services for several denominations. My mom has used the van shuttle service included on several occasions for shopping trips or doctor appointments. She's right next door to a hospital, so that's a comfort given her multiple medical issues. It was the clean and friendly atmosphere that convinced my family that this was a great place for mom to live, but it has been the friendships and experiences that keep mom here. I hope she can live out her life here, because this is truly her HOME!

While we were all initially nervous to take the step toward assisted living, my mother and we, her children, were soon put at ease by the cleanliness and friendliness of The Towers assisted living facility. We didn't know what to expect going in (having really only seen these places in the movies), but it's safe to say that it was well beyond our expectations, and this feeling of relief was helped along by a very well put-together tour by a very understanding tour guide. Our mother's only been a resident for a month now, but she has no complaints - the food is good, the staff is professional and genuinely seems to care about her wellbeing, and her companions at The Towers all get along with her well. The only thing we've noticed is that sometimes the janitor will snicker behind the residents' backs, but we've filed a complaint and hopefully this'll be taken care of soon.
