Holiday Dogwood Terrace was the one I favored the most. The rooms were nice, and all of them had balconies. They had 1-bedroom and 2-bedrooms. I was happy with the 1-bedroom and the efficiency for one person. I liked that the balcony looked like it was sitting in a nice, wooded environment that went all the way around it. I love that the entryway was open and right off the dining room. You didn't feel like you were enclosed in a room, like in a hospital. The staff was wonderful. They had a small gym, a small library, and a game room. I looked at the menu, and I thought it was nice. It was like being in a restaurant. You didn't have to get up for the buffet. They had a server.

I liked Holiday Dogwood Terrace. I liked it a lot. I like the fact that they have additional services. It can help my mom down the road if she needs assisted living. They have people working there, and that's what I like. And the place is close to my house as well. The room was very nice. It's small, but that's all she needs. It's very nice and clean. I did not try their food, but I knew that they have a chef that I'm well aware of because he used to have his own restaurant in Richmond. If he's there, I'm sure the food is great. Overall, the condition of the community is very clean, and they're doing some remodeling and bringing in some new furniture and things like that. The guy who gave us the tour did an excellent job. He was very nice and helpful.

We went to Holiday Dogwood Terrace. I wouldn't consider that independent living, honestly, the way the setup was. They had people come in and were promoting to clean your clothes or clean your sheets, although they did have on the floor a community laundry room. It did not have a kitchen. It had a refrigerator with like, about like a three foot, I don't even think counter. It wasn't even like a kitchen. Basically, they wanted you to have all your meals with them in the dining hall. So you didn't really have a kitchen, although I guess you could get a hot plate or you could get a microwave, but still it just wasn't for my mother. It was a much smaller apartment. They did want you to wear a lariat in case something happens, and you can push it. OK, that's not independent living. There were just so many things about it that did not fit the needs for my mom at this time that it was really on the verge of almost in between assisted and independent, like the next level transition almost. We dealt with Chris who gave us the tour. He was great and very informative and gave us information on resources for 24-hour calling for doctors' offices and things like that. But we didn't really interact with any other person other than the girl at the desk, and both of them were very nice. The exercise room was really not even what you would consider an exercise room. It had like four pieces of equipment wedged in this little area, and you couldn't even really do a floor exercise with other people who are on the other equipment type of thing. It really wasn't very big, and that's something that was important to Mom. When you first walked in, they had a huge dining room, basically, and gathering area. We just didn't have a feel for that one. It doesn't fit in that idea that we have as independent.

We toured Holiday Dogwood Terrace, and we had lunch there. I liked the atmosphere and the look of the place when you go inside. It was light, airy, and wasn't dreary looking. Also, I liked the friendliness of the staff. Chris was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. I noticed the residents that lived there. I was checking out their overall attitude and everything. It seemed like everyone was happy there. I had a nice experience when I walked in. The food was good. On that particular day, they had barbecue chicken. I had spinach, mashed potatoes, and a salad. They brought rolls around for everyone. You had your choice of drink. The way they did the meals was excellent, and that is how they do them every day. I really liked that. It was really nice.

Holiday Dogwood Terrace was one of the facilities my parents liked and would probably be one of their first picks. We were surprised that if they decided to go on vacation to any other city or state that has one of the sister companies, they can actually stay in that facility free for up to a week (which was a big perk to them). They wouldn't have to pay anything. They just let them know that they're coming. They actually have a pretty good closet space. We also liked the fact that the price included the three meals. There's a billiards room, garden plots (which my mom liked), a bus that would take them to places, a movie room, and a workout area/exercise room with a few pieces of equipment. It wasn't big, but it was nice. They all had a calendar that had certain activities every week. We met Chris and he was real nice and friendly, too. They had a little call button that each resident would get to hang around their neck. If they fell or if they were in distress (they didn't even have to be on the property all the time), they push the little call button to get the ambulance or somebody to help them. That was included in the price. I didn't see anybody else had that. I thought that was really special. My dad liked the fact that they had different groups that go together to play poker or participate in a meeting club. The area around was a safe, but it just didn't seem as secure as the other places we've seen. Anybody can come into that campus from the streets.

My mother-in-law will be moving into Dogwood Terrace. The tour was good. The staff was professional. They had been very supportive of the whole transition and tried to make sure that she is making the right decision. It's professional, and it's clean. They walked through the process very well. They would answer any phone calls at any time. They're doing their part. She was very pleased when she walked in. It didn't take her long to make a decision. When you first walk in, of course, you got the vestibule area like the opening, and then you have to sign in and do all the COVID protocols. To your right, you'll see the dining area, and then to the back of that, they got a recreational area. My mother-in-law wanted to be on the second floor, and they brought her to a room that they were fixing up and showed her how the room would look and what she could bring and what she couldn't bring. They gave her a folder with all that information in it. We went back again about a few weeks ago, and they were putting in new carpet, and painting, the whole nine yards. They're getting the apartment ready. She was able to see that process. The place smelled clean. The amenities they have would be, transportation to the doctor's appointments and shopping. Also, they get a device on them so they could keep track of them; it's on them at all times, 24 hours. Then somebody in the family actually can put the app on their phone and know where she is and know proximity or whatever. I like that part. My mother-in-law would just keep that on her. She wanted a balcony with a front view, and they gave her that, so she has an apartment with a balcony with a front view of the front of the building as opposed to the back building. Chris did a really good job, and he took quality time with us. Then when we went over and signed for her to be there, he walked through that process. I just talked to him this morning to make sure that we were all still okay. So he said, everything is on the go. Everything is good. The place was really nice and very clean. It's a very beautiful place.

Our tour experience at Dogwood Terrace was nice. Chris was very nice, very accommodating, and very friendly. We saw some people walking around, and some were baking some cookies in the community kitchen. He showed us the dining room, and it was decorated real nice, too. We were happy to see residents smiling and saying good morning to us and other people. Then we sat together in a common area upstairs. We talked with Chris a little bit about my fiance's grandmother and we got on the same page about what we're looking for, what they have to offer, and the details about whether it was a good fit. I felt Chris did a really good job of explaining the limitations of the services they offer, as well as the benefits. We were both in a really good place about finding the best situation for her, and that was nice. We really liked the studio. It was super clean and easily accessible. There was a kitchen, the main room, a little hallway with the closet, and the bathroom. It was spacious and had a nice carpet. It also had bars for her to support herself when she sits on the toilet. Chris printed out some information for us and gave us a little packet to go home with. He was even kind enough to answer some of our questions. He gave us information very openly about the other facilities; we really appreciated that because it felt like he was really thinking of our best interests. They have all sorts of activities and amenities. They had a game room with a pool table and board games, a library with some chairs, and a main area with a TV and couches. They actually required everyone to eat meals together. Everybody comes to the main dining room three times a day and has meals together. They provide three meals per day, but you can have them deliver it to the apartment if it's needed for a fee. All the apartments have a balcony. Everyone can put some chairs out there or have little gardens and potted plants. Some people had bird feeders. So, it seemed like a really nice place to live. Chris was really great, and we walked away really confident that we have at least a good option for her when she gets out of rehab.

I took dad to tour the Dogwood Terrace. I thought the guy who brought us around had a good demeanor, he was very kind, and I thought he did a good and honest tour of his facility. They had a dining area. They had a little game room, a library, and a little outside front entrance porch. They had a kitchenette. They did not have a washer and dryer. We saw a larger room. It was like two rooms and a kitchenette. I think they provided cable. I think almost everything was provided there in the amenities, like the only bill you'd have to pay, I believe, was your cell phone bill. I think it wasn't a great fit for my dad, there weren't any residents around, and the few residents that we saw were all female. My dad is a guy, and of course he would like male residents. But we didn't see anybody using any of the facilities, and it could have been the time of day we went, I don't know, but it was kind of stark in that manner. And so if you go there to live, you kind of want to see people.

We went to Dogwood Terrace. We had lunch there. The food was good. They had several choices on the menu, and they served you at the table (which I thought was really nice). They came and took your order, so it's like a restaurant. I thought the staff was very nice. He showed us all of the facilities that were in the room, the game tables, and the little movie theaters that they have set up. He showed us some of the apartments which were good. He showed us the studio and also a one bedroom. They were clean and I thought that either one would have worked for my husband. I thought it looked a little tired, but it was perfectly liveable. I thought it was a really nice facility. The sales manager was lovely; Chris was very pleasant and informative. They were very, very nice there.

Dogwood Terrace was real nice and real clean. The rooms were good size. We got to see a couple of different styles and units. Everything looked real well. We talked to one of the people that live there, and she said she loved it. She loved living there. It's a very nice place. The person we were supposed to meet wasn't there. From what we were told, whoever I talked with to make the appointment didn't relay to the facility that we were coming, so the lady we spoke with actually took us around. She was real knowledgeable and real nice. She could only tell us so much because she didn't do that on a regular basis. They had some menus laying there, so I picked up one. They had the calendar sitting there also for the whole month of activities and stuff, and it looked like they had a lot going on there. She showed us all the rooms that were there and what they had and could do. It was very nice. They didn't have a lot of grounds there; but they had a sidewalk all the way around the building, so they could walk on a surface instead of having to walk on a dirt path, which is good.

The staff at Dogwood Terrace was very friendly and knowledgeable. The facility was excellent. It's everything you could want. The upkeep was excellent. They said I could come for lunch, but I had other appointments, so I couldn't do that. I didn't check the menu, but I'm familiar with Holiday properties, and I know the food is excellent. They have every amenity that you could ask for. Everything's included. It would be my first choice if I could afford it, which I can't.

Dogwood Terrace was very nice, very clean, and very organized. I was greeted by the people who knew I was coming. We had a nice tour, and they were absolutely fantastic. They were knowledgeable about everything, and their answers to all the questions I asked made sense. They were very honest and very forthright. They were absolutely excellent for Dogwood Terrace. The room I saw was very nice. I just wanted to have more size, since I'm coming out of a 2,600-square-foot home. Their menu wasn't that good, but that's a personal thing. I'm Jewish and so I'm not into the foods that they were serving, but generally, they would be very good for their market, just not for me. I saw people in wheelchairs wheeling themselves around, others were walking or sitting on benches observing the scenery and talking to people, and there were people inside the community area hanging out and doing their thing. The people running that place were absolutely excellent and are doing the jobs that they should be doing.

I toured the Dogwood Terrace and it was very nice, very bright, and very clean. It has a nice, open, and airy feeling. Their dining room in particular was nice, open, airy, bright, and spacious. The apartments were a good size and comfortable. They have church services, crafts, men's get-togethers, and community outings. The location was clean and well-kept.

I visited the Dogwood Terrace in Richmond. It was very good, but there was just a difference between Dogwood and my current facility. Dogwood does not have a full kitchen and I did not want just a kitchenette so I went with my current facility which has a full kitchen. The staff was very nice, they were very friendly and very helpful. There wasn't any meal, just a fruit plate that has raw pineapples, which I can't eat. The facility was nice and very well-kept, the big difference was that they had a kitchenette, not a full kitchen. The layout was all very nice, I considered it to be a competitor with the facility I'm in right now. I just chose my current facility because of the kitchen and also because it had a washer and dryer. I didn't really look much into the amenities at Dogwood. I don't think they had any other difference from the other facilities. Their rooms were very nice. They just had new carpet put in that were nice, too.

The meals are tasty and nutritious, and the staff - from the managers to the housekeeping staff are always kind, supportive, respectful and helpful to residents and families! Wonderful place!!

I have no problem with Dogwood Terrace. Everything's good. My room is a good size with a large entry foyer. The staff is caring and efficient. The food is good. We get three meals and snacks twice a day. We're served in our room right now, but they're gradually working us back into the dining room. The facility is nice, but the activities are very limited because of the virus. You're allowed to play games, but with only five people in a group at a time. They have card games, Wii, and exercise. There's quite a variety, but we still are very limited in the number of residents that can get together and we must all wear masks. We're scheduled to have a jazz band play outside and the rooms in the front can watch from their balcony; they were putting out chairs for us as well. They have a van that takes us where we need to go, and it's very close to shopping. The cost is better than a lot of other places I looked into. It's reasonable.

The general age of the people living at Dogwood Terrace was a little older than what my friend is looking for. The gentleman I met with talked about it, and he said their sweet spot is 70's to early 80's, and my friend is only 60 years old. The facilities were gorgeous, the amenities were outstanding, but it was just not a community where it would be easy for my friend to have a lot of things in common with other people. That was the only drawback. Other than that, there was nothing that made me unhappy about the place. The residents were having their lunch while I was there, the atmosphere was quite lovely, and everyone seemed lovely. They were sitting in groups. I did not see anyone being isolated or looking ostracized. The food smelled good, but I didn't try to taste anything.

Wonderful ,clean facility. Move my parent from a similar facility in North Carolina, and wished I would have done it sooner. The staff and management are caring, responsive and attentive. The activities director, Judy is wonderful and plans plenty of activities for the residents. The food is excellent with plenty of alternatives at each meal. Would recommend this facility to anyone who is concerned about the safety and well being of their parent(s).

Dogwood Terrace has a wonderful atmosphere, is clean and nicely decorated. The convenience of 3 prepared meals per day in a bright, spacious dining room is a highlight. The management and staff are unparalleled. They go above and beyond to meet the needs of residents and provide activities that would be suitable to all types of interests, such as current events, field trips, games, movies, art classes, donut socials, happy hours, and musical entertainment, to name a few. Every holiday is a special occasion, and families of residents are invited. There are convenient services on site such as a hair salon and physical therapy. I would highly recommend Dogwood Terrace!

After 58 years in their home, my parents dreaded the move, but after only a few months Dogwood Terrace felt like home. The caring, friendly staff made the biggest difference along with ample activities for the social and not-so-social types. The apartment is well maintained and includes weekly housekeeping and linens. All 3 meals are included which makes DT a great value for worry free living!

My mother has been a resident at Dogwood Terrace for almost 3 years. She has a 1 bedroom apartment on the 1st floor and she absolutely loves it there. The staff really care about the residents and are like extended family for my mom. She loves having meals in the dining room with her friends but also enjoys her privacy in her very nice and efficient apartment. Her favorite meal is breakfast and then she attends the exercise class every morning at 10:00. I was very nervous about moving my mom away from all her family and friends in Ohio, but Dogwood Terrace made the transition easy for her. And while others commented that it's expensive, I think it is an amazing value for the price.

There are a variety of rooms/apartments that are available. They are very nicely laid out and provide a welcoming atmosphere to residents. The staff takes a personal interest in the residents. They have oftentimes chatted with us regarding our relative to make certain their needs are met. They are quick to greet you with a smile when you enter the building. They offer a variety of games and activities throughout the day to keep residents active and engaged. This is a wonderful facility and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Dogwood Terrace is managed by the same company as the place we chose, but $1,000 a month more. It had all the same amenities. In the Richmond area, north of the James River costs a lot more than south of the James River. We didn't have any negatives about this facility.

Dogwood Terrace was a very nice-looking place. Tthey showed me a tiny studio on the ground floor. It would have been fine, but not 10 feet from the door was a highway. It was also so expensive that I would have to give every cent I bring in, and I couldn't do it. The staff was fine, not pushy, and followed up. They had a dining room, and you could cook a little bit in the kitchen. They had an exercise place, a TV room, and a computer room, but I didn't see anybody there.

Dogwood Terrace appeared to be a new place. The main room for the residents was well lit and had a cheerful feeling. I liked that the staff they had hired to serve the residents in the dining room really knew the residents. They were students, so I thought it was nice that it gave a cross section of age groups and the residents could talk with young people who are serving them. Some of the staff members were husband and wife which was nice too because that brought a family element to the community. I had dinner there, and the food was delicious.

Dogwood Terrace felt like home, not like a nursing home. The staff people were very nice and very friendly, and the rooms were spacious and clean. Dogwood Terrace was one of my favorite ones. I like it a lot. It was in a nice zip code or area, it's clean looking, you see a bunch of apartments where people are actually living in, and it was like an apartment complex. It was all connected, and inside there's a big dining area. It was fairly new, and it's very nice. They actually had apartments with balconies, the staff was friendly, and I was shown a studio, a 1-bedroom and a 2-bedroom.

My aunt is currently at Dogwood Terrace in independent living. You are paying for the meals, light housekeeping once a week, and little assistance. I feel that the place really tries and their intentions toward the residents are good, but they are terribly understaffed. They have a community room, an exercise room which no one uses, and a game room. The women play bingo and do some activities. I think they are really good at taking care of any maintenance problems. The grounds are kept nice and attractive. The outside looks much better than the inside.

I thought Dogwood Terrace was a really nice place with really nice people. It was clean and had everything that you could want. If you went there, you would not need anything else. You pay one price and have everything. However, it was a little too expensive for what I wanted and needed. Other than that, if someone would need that type of living, that would be fine.

I was pretty impressed with Dogwood Terrace, and I actually went there several times. They worked really hard to keep their people happy, and I would really recommend them highly. The food was wonderful, and I keep fantasizing about it. If there's anything that would make me decide, it would be the food because the food was totally gourmet. The grounds are very pretty. There is a park there within walking distance where I could go and walk in. There is a beautiful pond, walking trails, and lots of nice things, and also within walking distance are some of the really best shopping areas of Richmond. They liked me, and I liked them a lot, but I just really wasn't ready to do this. It is just expensive. The only one that I could even hope to ever live in would be the studio which was tiny and claustrophobic.

I visited Dogwood Terrace. It's a lovely place. What my mother hated about it was that they don't have a full kitchen. My mother really hated that. She felt like that we were saying she couldn't be trusted to have a kitchen. Nevertheless, Dogwood Terrace was beautiful. It was a smaller community, more intimate, and very friendly, but my mother could not get over that they didn't have a full kitchen. The dining room was gorgeous. It was really new. The upgrades were really pretty. It was a very attractive facility.

Dogwood Terrace is a combination because they don't provide assisted living, but they have nurses who are contracted in the building, so the nursing is available to anyone who wants to hire that service. It seems to be new and clean. They seem very concerned about the cleanliness, so that's important. The grounds are very well-kept, and the management is on-site. It's a family, and they are very, very friendly. I like that they're always trying to engage the residents to be very social, and they have a lot of different things going on. They have different people who come in and entertain at parties and get-togethers. I think it's really perfect for someone who doesn't want or can't spend top dollar because it really has all of those things that you want without being too expensive. The only thing that's lacking is they need a little more variety in the food, and some of the residents say that. They have a lot of food, and it is well-prepared, but it's very often the same thing over and over. If you want some variety, you just order in or go out sometimes.
