What I like most about White Springs Senior Living is the activities and attention given to dementia care. There are lots of activities in-house at his house, inviting the community in, and going out into the community. It's critical for Alzheimer's patients to have as much cognitive stimulation as they can tolerate, and they certainly provide it. The staff members are very responsive to her and to her emotional and social needs, they are also learning to be responsive to her physical needs. The front-line caregivers are not as skilled as I would expect in things like hearing-aid care, denture care, transfer assistance, and these types of everyday activities. I was a little concerned that my mom's actual room is only deep cleaned once a month. So I would say that I have a housekeeping concern, as far as somebody with allergies may be bothered like my mother is. But other than that, they're good for her socially, and they've certainly met that bar and exceeded it. I have not tasted the food but my mother has put on weight and she eats very, very well. That's with no snacking, that's three square meals a day. The administration is very responsive to questions, concerns, or complaints, and any comments are acknowledged and acted upon in an expedient manner.
Everybody in White Springs Senior Living was cheerful. The place was very cohesive, and everybody knew everybody. They were sharing and working together as a group and understood what they were doing and were always engaged. They were always doing something and somebody was always watching what they were doing.
The dining area looked very practical, yet elegant and open. It had high ceilings, lots of light, and a nice menu (where they could choose from a variety). It was high quality. It was real cooked food, not canned goods. There were waitresses that were serving you all the time if you wanted more coffee or something like that. It was a really pretty dining area with lots of artwork.
The lady who toured us was absolutely a delightful person, very warm, and very knowledgeable. She knew the name of every person that was there, was able to reach out to them, and asked them what they needed. The apartments were quite roomy and nice. I was impressed. It's got a nice layout, and each one had ample space, a closet room, and nice bathrooms. The hallways were wide and well-lit. Everything was doable.
They have a movie theater, a salon, and all things that just keeps them going and doing. They would take a couple of bus ride trips to see the Christmas lights or go to a farmer's market to just go walk around. They also have a beautiful outdoor area in the memory care where they can go out on their own. It's fenced off with some lounge chairs. It's very nice, very large, and open.
