We have the greatest management anyone could possibly ask for, Kim and Amaryllis are always there to help you, with a smile We have great activities with treats, and a luncheon that is always great food. I love my apartment and have for 9 years, a wonderful place to live.

I really liked Cottages on 7th. They were really awesome. Everything was outstanding, except I didn't like the location. It's right downtown 7th East and you've got traffic galore. That was the thing that I was not impressed with. The staff was really accommodating, easy to talk to, very friendly, answered all my questions, and upfront. They weren't high sales pitch. They're really great. They have little parties and they bring in special stuff, but they don't do meals.

1. Terrible communication. “I’ll get back to you in 2 days” never happens 2. When the day came to move in, the mgr at the time changed my contract to my detriment, and refused to give me the “2 months free rent” that was advertised. Then, I was given no info about how to use the key card, codes, where to set up my modem (or that I needed my own modem and landline phone) so, it to me a while to figure all of that out. 3. The wi-fi, that is part of the “package” that we pay extra for. It is incredibly slow, and has gone out completely from 1-4 days at a time. The “package” also includes home phone, and DirecTv. I wouldn’t have chosen any of this myself, but there ya go. 5. Soon after I moved in, my fire detector starting beeping. A really nice feature of the 4th floor, is that we have exceptionally high ceilings. The bad news about that, is that I can’t reach the fire detector, and couldn’t turn it off or reach the battery. Since it was 5:10 pm when it started, and this was not a “maintenance emergency”, I couldn’t get help, and so I had to listen to the beeping and the voice saying “low batter” for 15 hours. Again, my dog was terrified (for 15 hours!) 6. Parking: I was assigned the worst parking spot in the lot & couldn’t use it because of some of my physical limitations. I asked for a better spot, and it took 4.5 months to get it. 7. Unfortunately, 2 of the outside entrances have stairs attached to them, so getting large carts of groceries, etc. is very challenging for weaklings like me! 8. There is no lighting in the parking lots, and most of the lights on the exterior of the building, including the courtyard area, are out. 9. Trash is a big problem. The area where the trash dumpsters are stored is awful. Trash, cardboard, garbage, broken glass strewn everywhere. 10. There is no recycling! Greystar touts its “green” philosophy, yet do not do something as basic as recycling. 11. The hallway carpets are filthy. The entry/exit ways are mostly filthy. In my 6 months here, the general cleanliness has deteriorated dramatically. It wasn’t clean when I got here, and now it is noticeably worse. Most residents complain about this, and most of those say that they don’t feel that they can complain because there may be retaliation from management. 12. Right now, in early July, the temperature of the theoretically air conditioned hallways on the 4th floor is ranging from 86-92 degrees. 14. Maintenance response time is terrible and there is little, if any, communication. Perhaps we need more help? 16. It isn’t all bad, I do like my actual apt, and the residents are nice. The area is ok. And, we are starting many new activities, which is nice.

Rosegate is a very new, clean, and quiet place. It's fabulous and not cheap, but my mom likes it. She has been there since May. It's a lock community, so you have to have a key card to get in. They have concerts and parties. However, their staffing is not that great; I'm not really satisfied with them.

I heard the place from a friend who has a friend who moved into Rosegate. After looking at other places, this is the place for me. It?s a brand new all independent living for 55 years old and over. It?s about 4 blocks from the TRAX, a public transportation so it?s very convenient. It has a parking and an elevator. They also allow cats. I?m the first person in this apartment. Each apartment has a balcony. I?m on the 3rd floor, I have a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment. It has a very spectacular view of the mountains from every room. On each floor they have different facilities. The first floor has a gym or an exercise room with everything you can possibly think for exercise. On the second floor is a theater available 24 hours on Tuesdays. It has a VCR, big overstuffed leather furniture with an enormous screen where you can take your own movie and a big popcorn machine. The third floor has a crafts room with all kinds of things for people who like craft. The fourth floor has a large library or reading room. The community room is on the ground floor. It?s like a big hotel lobby with a grand piano and a fireplace. There?s also a fully equipped commercial kitchen for parties or club meetings. Outside is a big gas fireplace, almost like a restaurant barbeque system. It?s just very nice.
