I went to look at Summerfield Retirement. The faculty was awesome. The food was more catered to an older crowd, and what we had was delicious. They have a physical therapy room, a hair salon, a little soda bar, an ice cream, raised garden beds for the residents, and a couple of really nice patio areas just for sitting. Convenience-wise, it is maybe a mile away from a major freeway.

It’s very unfortunate that people pay several thousands of dollars of their hard earned life savings each month to live here only to get to the end of their 90+ year old life and are not allowed to say goodbye to the people they raised and influenced. What a shame. They are to die alone at Summerfield. The staff including the Director seems to have connections with a higher power and they like to predict when people will die, and if they feel it’s not their time to pass, they will make you wait until your loved one is in either in a coma or possibly passed before you can see them. Even then, they may tell you to come say your final goodbye and then make you stand in the cold while changing their policy. Trust me the ever changing policy will not be in your favor. There is absolutely No compassion or empathy. They make up rules and do not communicate with family or staff. The rules are not clearly defined or written. If you want your loved one to die alone this is probably the best place for them to be. Very very disappointing!

Summerfield Retirement provides the assisted living that my wife needs, healthcare, meals, and everything else, and it's been very good. They have many activities for them. They have people coming in providing music or concerts. If she's feeling well, she can participate in some of them. The food is very good. She receives a menu for each week and she can select the food she would like. They also have larger rooms for people who can take care of themselves. The staff has been very helpful and they respond to her needs right away. She has a small kitchen area where she has a refrigerator, a microwave oven, a sink, and closets for clothing. Her apartment is a large area, which is a combination of a living room and bedroom area, and a separate bathroom with a shower. She hasn't complained about the food.

We moved into Summerfield, and we liked it. The staff is very helpful and efficient, and the people were very friendly. They have activities, they have it well planned, and they have Bingo and movies.

Summerfield was smaller but still very nice. The staff was helpful and willing to try and make it possible for my mother to come there. One room we saw was extra large, very nice, and had two segments, so it wasn’t just one room. They wanted my mother to be in a room that was closer to the nurses’ station in case she were to need any extra help. That room was smaller, but it was nice and clean.

I would recommend Summerfield Manor & Retirement Community. The apartment was the roomiest that I've seen. They offer the most independence of retirement and also offered an option to have an assisted living and all levels of support necessary before passing away. They are across the street from a hospital, so I couldn't get any closer to emergency medical attention that being across the street.

The staff is kind and caring, and the place is very well kept, but my mothers lives there and the food is awful. She never stops complaining about it.

This is a nice facility, a lot of windows and natural light. I like the activity list and the staff seem to really care about the patients. However, during my visit, it seemed to me that a lot of the residents were just meandering along and the staff weren't paying a lot of attention to them. Now this might normally be just fine. The residents don't have to have every second of their day planned out, but when I looked into the activity room and found the television droning on in the middle of the day during both my visits, it seemed a little concerning. I think that maybe the staff could try to encourage the residents to participate more in the activities.

My grandfather has been here for over three years now. The faculty is very kind and my grandfather is content with his room and his surroundings. That may not be saying much since he has sever Alzeimer's and doesn't know all the time where he is. My complaint about this place is how many times my grandfather is simply walked out without anyone noticing. Once my grandfather walked out the front door and literally walked the five-ten miles back home and they did not notice that he was missing.
