The Haven and the Laurels in Stone Oak are reasonably-priced. It's a large facility with 60 beds, and it's got an average level of care, in my opinion. They're a little bit low on the number of staff they have for such a large facility. They only have one person at night to cover 20 people, and I think that's a little bit light. I think they could use more staffing to make sure that their patients are taken care of during the night. During the day, they've got three or possibly four people there per 20 people, so that's a pretty good ratio. They have several activities and that's good. I am a little bit concerned that everything is hard tile because my wife is susceptible to falls. So if she were to fall, she would hurt herself, so she may end up having to be wheelchair-bound. Whereas, this other place that I looked at, they have carpeting in their hallway and they have railings on both sides of the hall where people can hold on to. So if they were to fall, get dizzy, or faint, they're falling on the padded carpet, which would cushion the blow. The rooms that they have are nice and they're all tiled. It's very reasonably priced, but then you're not getting an upper level of care. The other place I saw was smaller and has better care, but costs more. So you're just getting what you pay for. There appear to be a lot of people at Haven and the Laurels, it's almost full. Their salesperson was a very nice, very knowledgeable lady, and the nurse that I met seemed nice and very knowledgeable. But I don't like the quantity of staff they have on hand.

The Haven and The Laurels in Stone Oak had a very nice garden and I like that. It's also in a nice location; it was pleasant with nice colors inside. The rooms were nice enough and they were pretty roomy. The people that I talked to and the lady who took me on the tour were very kind and nice.
