About This Community

Welcome to New Haven at San Angelo

At New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care, our centrally-located kitchen allows the smell of home cooking to permeate throughout the house, enticing residents out of their rooms to enjoy delicious meals and the companionship of others. Our cozy physical design allows residents to enjoy the kitchen, dining, and living room only a few steps from their private apartment. Just around the corner is another day room, a hair salon, and a sunroom. We eliminated long halls and hidden corridors so our residents won't lose their way. Activities are at their doorstep, and caregivers are close at hand. Depression and insecurity are minimized by our close, open, and home-like atmosphere where friendship and caring are optimized.

Our homes are designed with one objective overriding all else-the comfort and dignity of each resident. Spacious bedrooms and private bathrooms with individual climate controls and call systems are provided to a maximum of 16 residents per home. Our residents can enjoy the large screen television with fellow residents in the living room or watch cable television in the comfort of their own rooms. Nutritious home cooked meals are prepared every day in our residential style kitchen within steps of each resident's bedroom door. The dining area is adjacent to the kitchen and living room and helps to make our residents feel at home. We strive to make our residents feel comfortable and welcome you to "Come home to New Haven."

New Haven is a proud member of the Better Business Bureau of Texas and is an active member of the Chambers of Commerce in the cities where we have our assisted living homes.

Our residents are able to enjoy planned activities provided by our staff that have been trained specifically on caring for those with memory impairment.

We believe that our residents, who experience progressive illness with cognitive impairment and challenges, still have the right to experience life with opportunities for growth and fulfillment. We understand that those with memory challenges experience a very different environment. We support our residents, in their reality, and the people who love them.

We offer a thorough, multi-phased training program that sets our staff apart as extraordinary caregivers. Staff members are specifically trained in managing aspects of senior care as well as understanding and managing the challenges of Alzheimer's and dementia care. All staff receive background checks and drug screening and are given continuous education and training.

We used New Haven for my respite care, and they have better knowledge of dementia patients. It seems like they can accommodate them better. The staff is very friendly. They have a family mantra where they want to keep the residents as close to their home routine as much as possible. You can visit any time, day or night. They also allow pets, although my mother didn't bring one. When I came back she said that she likes the people, they were all polite, and she enjoyed the food. They have activities, daily exercises and things like puzzles and bingo. They also have TV and social time. The only drawback is that their rooms do not come furnished. So for respite care that's difficult. They have a bed and a chest in storage, but we had a lot of things to bring besides the convenience of bringing just clothes.

New Haven of San Angelo was a smaller community, and the people were nice. The room that we saw there would have worked for my mom, and it seemed like she would have gotten a lot of one-on-one care there. The staff who gave me the tour was very friendly, very helpful, and very accommodating. We also spoke to another person who seemed kind of new and not quite familiar with everything yet.

New Haven of San Angelo was very nice. We liked the community area. The rooms were a little small, but we really enjoyed the visit. All the rooms open up onto the common areas so you're not isolated at all. They have medical staff who can help administer medications and keep a closer eye on everybody. The staff is very caring and they like what they do. They also take great pride in what they do.

My mother-in-law likes Bee Hive Homes, so that's where we wound up putting her. She likes that one the best. The facility is actually about two miles away from where I am. It is smaller. They only have 16 residents per home, which she really likes. With regards to their rooms, you can either bring your own furniture or they have furniture that you can use at no extra charge. She thought that was nice too. She has a large room and she was able to bring stuff from home that made her feel better. She has had rooms for her scoot around. Being that Bee Hive Homes is a smaller community, my mother-in-law just thought it would be better with staff to learn how to deal with her as far as her speech and her lack of abilities. So far, it has been great. She really likes it over there. What stands out to me is that there is a home atmosphere in this facility.
