My Mother lives in his facility and has for several years. She is 95 and still has all her wits about her, although she is physically frail. No one really enjoys assisted living; everyone there wishes they were strong and able enough to live at home, so there is a certain tendency to criticize the facility when what really makes you upset is the situation. My observation is this: if you have to live in assisted living and if you must live within Medicaid constraints, this is a very good place to be. The staff is attentive, there are daily activities and the food is edible. Yes everyone has roommates, and yes, some of the residents are a challenge to live with. But, overall, the place as a feel of kindness that I find very reassuring.

I would not place your love one here unless your planning on spending a lot of time there to make sure their being cared for properly. My mom often complained about them being short staffed so her care sometime s were neglected. She became very depressed. Her bed were infested with bed bugs! When they injured her they fell to report it nor did they let me know what was going. My mothers leg became severely infected and she was admitted to the hospital. I placed my mother here in hopes to get her better, but she got worse. I have removed my mother and she is now being cared for the right way.

There are some good people who work here and try hard to make things work. I think the Alzheimer's Wing has some very nice workers who were very kind to my mother. The main concern with this place is that it has been sold/changed hands a number of times during recent years. Some good worker have stayed -- yet many more have left. I think many, higher functioning people might do okay here. They will need to advocate for themselves rather often. The staff is not very attentive on many of the "regular" wings on weekends. However, you can get them to treat your family member well if they discover that you are likely to visit often -- and actually show up a lot. That's true at most nursing homes/assisted living facilities-- including this one. Be sure to ask about their ongoing activities for the residents. While they have had good activity programs in the past-- they need to start bringing in more visiting groups/performers for the pleasure of the residents. The food is usually okay -- though it's definitely a bit repetitive. I'd give this place Four Stars for the Alzheimer's Ward....Be sure to visit and meet the staff members who will actually be taking care of your loved one...and Always go to the care team meetings to make sure your family member's needs are being carefully monitored and met on a regular basis.
