I visited Parkway Place. They offered activities, scheduled transportation, exercise and wellness program, woodworking shop, and a lot of different things. They had several different sized apartments, either a 1 or 2-bedroom apartment. I'm sure I saw a 1-bedroom, probably one of the smaller ones since it's just me. I told everyone I don't want a big place, and I'd like a very small microwave and a refrigerator, that's all. It's been several months, so I'm trying to remember specifics. The dining areas were very nice. Some of them had a formal dining room that was more upscale, and they said, "This is a place where you could invite your family to come and we'll be happy if you'd let us know. We'd have a meal for them." They had a separate room, too, that was a little quiet if you had a family that you wanted to celebrate something, so that was nice. I don't remember specifics about the staff, but there wasn't anyone that I was put off by or felt was rude in any way at all. They were all extremely nice, polite and very professional and obviously knew their job well and were ready to answer any questions. It was an open-arms type, "Please, if you come live here, we'll make sure you'll enjoy it." It seemed very clean. Immediately when you walk in a place, you could tell it's clean and they care, that it's sanitized and everything.

My father-in-law has been in Parkway Place for 2-1/2 weeks now. We found them very helpful. It's a beautiful place. The meals, the space and the care are good. We're very happy. The staff has been very helpful and taking very good care of him. The residents seem nice. They have independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing. They have a lot of activities everyday. They have a dining room, outdoor space, a beauty parlor, and various groups that go on during the week.

A friend of mine told me about Parkway Place, and when my sister and I visited, it just seemed like the best facility for my parents. The place was very warm and caring, and everybody was out and about socialising. Some places I went to nobody was even out of their rooms. They have all types of care so as they progress they can just move down the hall: they don’t have to start all over. The staff and the food are very good. Their unit is like an apartment with living room, kitchenette, and bedroom -- very homey. They have games, movies, church, bible study, exercise classes, and Spanish lessons.

Parkway has independent living, assisted living, and dementia care, but they call themselves assisted living. My husband has dementia, so he had to be in an area that has special care, and I didn’t think they were any better located where he was. They have a long hallway; rooms all the way down to the sides. And if you are in the last room you’re out of luck. So like that, he has difficulty getting around. I know they don’t answer the lights very quickly, and if you are in the last room, which they were offering me, I would pick your chances of getting much service. The room was small. It has one small bed, one dresser, one TV and one bathroom, which he can’t use (can’t get the wheelchair in it and probably wouldn’t use it anyway because he has dementia, so it’s not good as to where he is). The location of the rooms needs to be improved. One long hall, rooms on every side, with twelve rooms down one side and twelve rooms down another, and the last room at least a hundred feet from any of the things that you do (the food, the entertainment). So it’s not very well set up. It used to be a situation where four or five rooms are clustered. They just have one big dining room where they had to sit all the wheelchairs and move tables to get everybody in. It wasn’t very large. I presume that everybody fits into it. I just didn’t think it was anything special. They have activities. You sit at the table and cut papers and do puzzles and listen to the people. None of that is really appropriate for him. He doesn’t participate in anything. I wouldn’t say anything bad about it, it wasn’t just right for him.

We moved my mom to Parkway Place a couple of months ago. The facility itself is very clean, nice, and very well run. It's like a five-star hotel, and it has a very nice atmosphere. It is excellent. I have no complaints about anything. The staff and patient relationship is excellent. My mom participates in a few activities. She is not participating very much yet, but I think she probably will as time goes by. Her room is a one-bedroom, and it is very spacious. It has a lot of windows, so there's natural light. It has a very nice, big bathroom and a little kitchen. Their dining room is very nice, spacious, and very clean. It is decorated very nicely with white tablecloths. She loves the food.

Park Place was a clean facility. I like the fact that they had a courtyard where you can go out and get sunshine. I also like that they had a diverse program for dementia and also for people progressing from dementia to Alzheimer's. I was very satisfied with it. I thought the people there were very friendly. I like the fact that there was adequate help. The one lady who gave me a tour, she was very kind. I would consider this place for my mother because the assistant director was very flexible. She was inviting me to bring my mom to see the place. I was impressed with her attitude in trying to work around what my mom likes and what she likes to do and so forth. Everybody seemed conscientious. When I went there, a group of people were setting up a service where people would have the opportunity to hear The Good News, and that was nice.

Parkway Place is just wonderful. It has beautiful green walkways, a beautiful pond, and they have an area where you can take care of your own garden. My parents love it. They have a 2-bedroom and a study, two bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen. The staff is wonderful and we're very, very pleased. It's fabulous. I would highly recommend Parkway Place.
