My dad is a resident of Avista Home. They cater their care to the person's ability to either move or not move; they just cater their care based on the person. The experience is pretty good for the most part. It's not a good experience overall to have to pull someone out of their home and put them somewhere, but the aides and the owner have worked closely with me to try to make it as comfortable of an experience as possible. The staff is nice, approachable and helpful. Value is good. The decor isn't put together. There's kind of like a hodgepodge of different furniture throughout the house. Some things could be updated like the paint in the house or the countertops could be nicer. Some of the railings around the toilets have a little bit of rust on them. They could improve on replacing those kinds of things, just fine-tuning and making it a little bit nicer and newer. They have a patio outside that's partly covered, and it has a koi pond with a waterfall, so that's nice. They have a barber come in, but that's just as needed. It's not someone that makes a rotation, but they offer that if you want it. They have cable TV and Wi-Fi. They could do some activities. The thing is that a lot of the people that are there can't really participate in them, so it doesn't make sense for them to have too much of that necessarily. I also find that it's kind of tiring when people come in a lot, so that's probably why they don't have that and that makes sense. They're pretty open if anything is suggested or wanted. Like I came in today and I installed a doorbell system where my dad can push a button and then the doorbell will ring in the kitchen if in case he needs something, and they were just like, 'Yeah, we'll be open to using that.' They're open to whatever you want to do.

Avista Home was a very good, clean place. I liked it for my mom. The staff was very nice and answered all of my questions. There were two different houses; one could accommodate six residents and the other one could accommodate seven. There were certain activities for physical therapy and memory loss.

Mom is in Avista, and all the relatives who visited her are really impressed with how lovely it is. It’s quiet with a beautiful setting and some activities. The staff is very caring, and they do things with them. I know she has gotten her nails done and a variety of other things.
