I been here 3 years and I can say I've noticed a positive change from then til now. New leadership has made many changes. Not in the best of areas but it's a great place to call home finally.

My mother was in here for 2 days before she passed away. The nurses are not attentive at all!!! It took them 30 whole minutes to clean my Mom after she called them and said she had to go to the bathroom. Do NOT put your loved ones in this place!!

I would give Ashford Gardens a three out of five stars. Some of the staff members are good while some are lazy just like anywhere else. My mom's room has a chest of drawers in there, a couple of chairs, and a TV. I have not heard of any activities yet because she is still going through physical therapy. The food depends on what they are preparing; sometimes it's good stuff, sometimes it's overcooked. The grounds are well-maintained, and they have it decorated for Christmas.

The staff was very nice during the visit at Ashford Gardens. The rooms were clean, there wasn’t an odor in the hallways, I didn’t pick up on any of that. The dining room looked as if it would probably hold about 30 people at any given time, and it was a pretty good size dining area. There was a security guard daily, 24 hours a day, and there is an elevator for the second floor in that particular elevator. They have bingo and church services.

Run, don't walk away from here. Forget the Medicare or state rating system! My father passed away in September and I am convinced his year long stay here contributed to his death. Staff is apathetic and lazy, management is clueless and unresponsive, decor is dated, and dining room is not clean. Mostly the problem is the bad attitude of most of the staff, and that translates into very poor resident care. Just go away from here. There are better places in Houston for you or someone you love.
