We liked Gateway Villas and Gateway Gardens certainly because of their location. They also offered everything that mom would need and I thought the size of the community would be right for her. It's a good match. She's confined to a wheelchair and they would be able to provide the transfers that she needed and so forth. That was important. They were just doing some renovations when we visited.

We toured the facility on the spur of the moment. The young lady that met us was very accommodating. No problem for her at all. She took us to a model which we loved! We were told that every room has a bay window and a window seat and a built in book shelf. It was very nice. We are considering for my sister. The closet in the newer building are small. The older building closets are larger but do not have a sink in the kitchenette. My only reservation is the nbr of staff at night. Only two at night in new bldg but only one in the villas

Gateway Villas and Gateway Gardens have taken really good care of my mother. They provide good COVID protocols. They check on her about every two hours all day long, to make sure she makes it to her meals, and that she hasn't fallen. They check to make sure everything is OK when she takes a shower. They're pretty excellent. They have exercises on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, church services on Saturday/Sunday (depending on who wants to volunteer to do that), bingo games, a walking club, opportunities to listen to choirs that come by and sing, and other games in the recreation room.

Gateway Villas and Gardens was really nice. My mother only lived there for three weeks, but she fell and broke her hip, and we had to move her to a nursing home. Everything was fine, and the food was good. She had a really nice and large place. It accommodated her queen size bed and her triple dresser. The whole thing was very nice. The location was nice. It was easy to get to. The grounds were kept well. The residents could go out. They had a nice dining area and gathering area.

Gateway Villas and Gardens is very nice with sweet people who take very good care of my mother. They have activities throughout the day. I just can't say enough good things about it. It's very nice, clean, and secure. Their personnel are very welcoming and seem very concerned about their residents. My mother gained weight, so the food must be really good.

I didn't have any problems with what I saw at Gateway Villas. The rooms were nice and clean. They had activities every hour of the day, like bingo, blackjack, dancing lessons, and all kinds of stuff. I’d recommend that people go and see Gateway.

Gateway Gardens is great. The staff is incredibly helpful, friendly, nice, and professional. The room has lots of natural light, is well set up, and the location in the building is great. The dining room is great, too. My father-in-law is happy and has been more involved in activities than he was before. They have an excellent activity director who is very good about encouraging him to join. For lunch, they’ve set him up at a table with other gentlemen, which is great. He said the food is good. He’s just been there a week.

My father was at Gateway Villa for less than one month. The Director assured us that his need for assistance with ADLs and getting to/from meals would be met. That was not the case. After the aides told me that the Villa is for independent living and the Garden is for assisted living, I asked the director if my father would be better off on the Garden building. She insisted the only difference between the buildings is ability to ambulate. Unfortunately, the staff did not know that and treated my father as an independent regardless of the fact that we paid for the highest level of assistance. I visited my father 5-7 times a week and he was becoming more and more withdrawn. EVERY time I visited, I found him in bed. Staff told me that he didnt want to get up so they left him in bed. If he said he did not want to go to the dining room, he didn’t eat. At 8PM one night after missing dinner, he was found sitting in the dining room, obviously hungry. They took him back to his room unfed. He had nutritious snacks in his personal refrigerator and they did not get them for him. When I learned of this, the building manager told me direct care staff are not allowed to get the personal food for residents. Shocking. Direct care staff are nice and competent, but they are overworked. MANY days there was ONE aid for 30 residents. They count the manager, the part time med aide, and the dietary staff to meet their required staffing ratios. One aid was so happy when she finally had 2 days off in a row over Easter weekend. She said she had worked 15 days straight. While I was already seeking new arrangements, management informed me that my father wondered outside at night. I do not believe them as he was physically incapable of opening the door they said he exited. They also told me he needed placement in a nursing home. Nursing homes are for people who have medical needs that require professional nursing intervention. My father has none and he in on no routine medication. He is often incontinent, wears depends, and is disoriented to time and place. Gateway Villa is a nice place if your loved one can live independently and/or needs minimal assistance. If you are told you have to pay for a higher level of care, I highly recommend you seek assistance elsewhere.

The Gateway Villas and Garden were absolutely gorgeous, but the rooms would not have worked. It was basically just one room with a small closet, and my parents' clothes would not fit. They are not allowed to have their own furniture. They wanted to keep their dog and I think the decision breaker was the fact that they could have their pet there. They didn't have the amenities we need.

We went and looked at Gateway and it's a very good place. The staff are very good. We liked it also because most of my father's friends are there.

I have visited this facility many times over the last 3 years. I have always found the staff to be helpful, encouraging and courteous to the residents that stay within the facility. The facility is always well taken care of and seems to be very clean. The facility seems to be a very safe environment. On all visits to the facility the residents I have encountered have been positive and happy with their stay. Residents seem to always have staff members engaging them in social activities and encouraging residents to become involved in the community with in the facility. Staff at the facility appears to be very well informed about each resident and their specific daily needs. The staff members that I have encountered always seem to have deep concern for the well-being of each and every resident. Overall I feel like the residents in this facility seem happy and have their needs well cared for by the staff and caregivers of the facility.
