Brookdale Lake was one of the two that we narrowed the choices down to. We just didn't get a good vibe. It looked like there wasn't a lot of staff, although the rooms were quite large. It's in a great location, but the facility itself looks a little dated. The staff members weren't as knowledgeable as the other place. We didn't see the dining. I think it is the function or the age of the facility.

Please Google the reviews on this facility and the corporation itself. My family wishes we had done that before moving our loved one in. Huge mistake. It's been very difficult from the beginning and we knew we had made a mistake only a few weeks in. There are constant problems with proper medications being given, basic services done consistently, and all we got were apologies then reasons they needed to raise the monthly prices. NEVER put your loved one in this facility and once you Google Brookdale Senior Living, you will want to avoid them all for good reason. The corporation doesn't care about residents in the least. If they did, multiple class action law suits would not be in process.

Never ever place your relative here. It's a horrific scam. The Executive Director will tell you whatever she needs to say to get you to move your relative in and when you expect those promises to be carried out, she will deny what she promised. This building is run on skeleton staff and often basic duties for your loved one go not completed such as regular hand washing, toileting, showers on scheduled days, and proper medicine administration. If you complain, management will retaliate. They will also attempt to raise your personal service rate within a few months of your relative living there and if they try to blackmail you and tell you that your relative needs 8-10-24 hours of sitters or they will kick your relative out, call all agencies and report this behavior. This has happened to my family and I know of another family who moved out due to this exact type of behavior. RUN AWAY from this horrific place. They should not be allowed to keep their doors open.

I placed my friend at Brookdale, and I liked that it's all one level. They serve three meals and do quite a few activities. They need to improve the food.

Brookdale Lake Highlands has been pretty good overall, but it's taken some time for the staff and my mother to figure each other out. It's very pleasant. My mother's room was quite nice. It was unfurnished but larger than any I have seen, and she has her own bathroom, plenty of closet space, and a pretty view. The dining room is very nice and large enough for everybody, but it's too dark. The staff has been very accommodating.

My brother is considering Brookdale Lake Highlands. The girl that worked there and talked to us, Amy, was really nice and congenial. She showed us the dining room, memory care section, and the rooms. She told us what items he would need, like the bed, dresser, and clothes that she would use. She explained to my brother the price and some ways that he might could get help with the cost of it. She has been talking to my brother off and on. He really appreciates that and the visit went very well.

Brookdale was a lot smaller than the other place. Also, they couldn't handle as many residents, and they didn't have space available. The staff took me on a tour, and they were very informative, but they didn't show the same interest. I'm sure they felt like they didn't have a space available. We were looking to get a place as quick as possible. I didn't get the same family feel from them, so they need to show a little more compassion. It was more like a business instead of a home.

Brookdale was very nice, and I like a lot of things about them. The staff was caring, attentive, and very willing to help. But it is cost manipulative.

The staff at Brookdale Highlands are very caring. My mother doesn’t do much of their activities because she can't hear anything.

The staff was very helpful and spent a lot of time answering my questions. I could tell they were concerned about their residents and wanted to make the time that they stayed there comfortable and in a nice atmosphere. They showed me activities that they posted up on a board. When there are holidays, they'll do special things there like hold a special dinner. In case the residents don't have somebody in town to visit, the facility gives them a holiday and makes them feel important. I just wish their private living areas were a bit bigger though.

They were fine. Everybody worked well and I was pleased with them. If you want, they could take you to the groceries and bring you back. However, it's just not what I was looking for.
