We went to visit the Avalon - Hughes Circle assisted living facility since we were looking at possibilities for our aunt. The outside grounds were nicely landscaped and well maintained, with lots of beautiful greenery and places to sit. The communal areas were all designed for ease of access with nice furnishings in a comforting setting. There were large areas for both quiet times as well as social interaction with other residents and family and friends. Residents may enjoy a variety of stimulating activities such as games, movies, reading, using the computer, reading, arts and crafts, and private parties. The private living spaces were cozy, warm and still bright with lots of light. Most were personalized according to the resident's tastes. The dining areas were made for both more formal affairs such as holidays and parties, and also casual and more intimate settings. The foods offered included a variety of very healthy, nutritious and delicious options. The snacks were also healthy and are offered regularly - as well as whenever the residents ask for them. There is plenty of physical activity for the residents, from walking along the many paths and outer areas, to enjoying the equipment and classes like yoga and aerobics. The close by metro area offers residents many opportunities to enjoy local events, culture, art, music, fine and casual dining and shopping in the vicinity. The nearby medical facilities offices are close to the highway - making visiting very easy, as well. It was evident to us that the residents really enjoy their living environment and the many benefits to living here -- and are very well treated by the very attentive staff.
