Avalon Memory Care has gone to great lengths to provide a mode of care that is uniquely tailored to the special needs of the Alzheimer’s victim. We are concerned with every phase of the resident’s needs (physical, emotional, and social). We work to restore and support the resident’s self esteem, dignity, and the resumption of as many of the daily personal tasks of which the resident is capable. Surrounded by family treasures and memories, the residents live in the comfort and privacy of their own rooms in a spacious, ranch style, one level home with built-in security features such as a secured patio and roomy backyard. They bond with and enjoy the companionship of other residents and inevitably form a “family feeling” that eliminates the loneliness or isolation often experienced in institutional settings. They enjoy luxury accommodations including exquisite furnishings in these fine homes.

We provide professional and sensitive care for the physical, emotional, mental, and social needs of our residents. Our care focuses on the safety and well-being of our residents, 24-hours a day. We have many excellent referrals and are licensed by the State of Texas as a small/large Class B Assisted Living with Alzheimer and Related Disorders certification.

My husband has been a resident in Glendora for a year. For a few months his care was good -- although he developed pressure wounds and required outside nursing care to heal these. Currently, staffing problems have developed and the level of care has declined. Furniture is worn and inappropriate for residents with walking/sitting problems. Family members are tolerated rather than included as an important part of the residents' care. Activities for the residents are non-existent.

We have had our mother here for over a year. It's a home atmosphere, and she is very well cared for. We could not be happier.

The Avalon - Glendora is an assisted living facility in the Dallas region that we decided to check out for our aunt. We liked the outer grounds - there were plenty of nice trees and grass that was well maintained. The staff was friendly and we could see from the main rooms that the facility was nicely designed with comfortable and elegant furnishings. There were rooms for a variety of functions, from reading, crafts, media and social gatherings. Residents may also reserve rooms as they like. The main dining room features a formal setting, with beautiful chairs, while the casual areas are easy access and seem a bit more intimate. The food offered looked delicious and the menus were interesting, with plenty of different food options for seniors. They ensure that all of their dietary needs are met, with plenty of good, healthy snacks offered throughout the day. Residents may also request them whenever they wish. The seniors are all encouraged to exercise regularly -- from using the lovely outdoor walkways, to taking classes in the exercise room. They offer yoga, stretch, weight training and stationary bikes. There are also excursions into the city that afford plenty of exercise -- such as walking tours and dancing. The seniors also enjoy book discussions at the local library, fine dining, art, galleries, and shopping. The staff interaction with residents showed that they care about the seniors a great deal and work to see that all of their needs are met with kindness and respect.
