Lakewood Village was a nice facility, it was just not as close to where we live and not very big. We put down a deposit and it took them about 45 days to return that deposit. The facility was really nice, but the rooms and the apartments were small. They had two meals a day and they seemed to have about the equivalent amount of activities as the other places we visited. All utilities were included, so it was more economical. We only talked to the administrative staff. One was nice and one was not so nice.

Mom is at Lakewood Village Retirement Community. She has a lot of friends and does bingo and exercise. They serve all three meals. I have eaten there, and it’s good. They have transportation that will take her, if needed, to doctors' appointments. The staff is very caring and attentive.

Love My Mother

My mother stayed at Lakewood Village and fell after being there for a month. She had been in the hospital for 12 hours, and they had not notified the family. The only way I found out was through her neighbor who went to visit her. It's a beautiful place. We told them that if our mother goes in the hospital again, they need to make sure they let somebody know. The apartments were nice, and she stayed on the main floor by the entrance to the left. However, there wasn't an introduction for her; no one came and had her get assimilated into the community or introduce her to people. We kept trying to get her hair done, and they wouldn't make appointments. She selected this community because she has a friend who lives there.

Lakewood Village is great, clean, and beautiful, and my aunt loves it. The people are friendly, and the food is good. She goes to exercise class every day, and they have lots of activities and church. It is an awesome place that has everything she wants. I would highly recommend it. The staff has been very helpful, very patient, and have a lot of experience dealing with people in this situation, so they have been great. The price is the best. They are based on the Church of Christ, which is where my aunt went, so it turned out to be wonderful and perfect for her.

Lakewood is a very friendly and warm environment, and the staff is very caring. It is an older facility, and the entrances and exits are locked, but it is about average for security. The food is probably average also; it is not the greatest, and not the worst. My in-laws are not extremely happy with the food. The rooms are quite large. They are renovating a lot of them as the residents move out. They also have full nursing care and assisted care, all in the same facility, which is also attractive to us because we know that they would probably need assisted care before long, and so it will be an easy move. With the fact that it is an older facility, there are some issues with that. The food is an issue. The activities they provide are very good, and they have a very nice activity director. They have lots of opportunities for them to exercise and keep moving, and they also provide a good service for doctors' appointments and things like that.

I also visited Lakewood Village. The people working there were very warm, kind, caring, friendly, and genuine. They had activities for their residents. I thought they do go out for a tour. It was very clean. I would recommend them to others.

We have found Lakewood Village for my parents. They have independent living, assisted living, nursing care, and we were told that they are in the process of building an Alzheimer's and memory care unit. They are all in the same premises and it is a 24/7 gated community. I like the fact that it is a multifunction facility. They actually have a medical ward with nurses on-duty 24/7 like in a hospital, which is really nice especially when my dad has instances where he is in and out of hospital care. So that means he would still be in the same premises and my mom would be able to see him without being in a different facility. What I also like about Lakewood is that they charge you by the timeframe. They have these set fees for how many minutes a day for whatever service your parent needs. You pay one charge based upon how much time it takes. In the long run, it was going to save us a lot of money. Lakewood is also non-profit facility and it is also run by a church, so that helps keeping their cost down. We were also very pleased with their sales representative. They are very professional and not pushy. Overall, I like this facility for my parents.
