The staff are constantly on their cell phones, at all times- in the nursing station, in the halls, when passing medications, when passing trays, etc. The staff consistently neglect patients, the call lights, and as long as no family is around, will talk down to and belittle patients. The food is often served cold by the time it reaches the patients room. Today for lunch we were served beans, a piece of cornbread and jello. No fruits, no vegetables, no meat, no dairy. My roommate and I asked the administrator if we could start getting salads, fruit and healthier options. She wouldn’t even consider it. Her response was an immediate NO. All we wanted was a balanced and healthier meal options. She does not care about patient concerns or health. Many of the patients suffer bed sores, chapped and cracked lips, and are forced to stay in soiled briefs/beds for hours at a time. Administration and nursing leadership do not place the needs of patients as top priority, and instead place an emphasis on office politics, control, and often fall short of even the bare minimum of patient advocacy. I would suggest looking elsewhere for quality care and staff to care for your loved one.

We walked right through the door of Odd Fellow and Rebekah Nursing Home, and it did not buzz. There were gates that were open, so the patients could walk out at any time. There were also patients sitting in the hallway that were not being attended. It did not look good. Based on my first impression, I would not recommend anybody to go in there. They need to improve on security.

Odd Fellow is primarily a nursing home, and it has some independent living. There are no private rooms. The staff is very friendly. They play bingo. There's a day a week when they show a movie. They do some arts and crafts. They play board games. People can get involved in what they want to. One of the problems is I have a dog, and my dog is a black Labrador and weighs 67 lbs. Nobody wants him, but I do, and as long as I'm able to take care of him, I'm not moving in because I wouldn't be able to have him. If you needed a nursing home, it would be my first choice, but if you wanted assisted living, I wouldn't recommend them.
