My mom has moved into Castle Rock Senior Community. It's all on one floor, it's very clean, and the rooms are quite spacious. The staff are very attentive and very engaged with the people in the community. However, she has only been there a week, so she hasn't participated in any activity yet.

Castle Rock Senior Community had a very homey feeling. They had an outdoor garden for the people to work on. It's a beautiful facility, and it's close to my home. It hit all of the boxes except it was a little bit more expensive than where my parents are currently. The staff was very understanding and willing to go pick my parents up if they wanted to go on a tour. They have a full activity calendar. They had gardening along with the normal bingo, painting, and all those kinds of things. We did not eat any of the food, but it smelled good. The rooms were clean and spacious with nice windows. They had an extremely large living room as you enter, and they have a tenant who likes to play the piano. They have a grand piano, so a lot of times someone is playing the piano in the distance, so it was nice.

This place is unbelievable in it's so called care. Residents are truly neglected. Showers once a week, sitting in urine soaked diapers all day, and no daily personal hygiene. My father-in-law went days without his teeth brushed. They do not check on the residents at night leading to frequent falls. When I was there late one evening, I had to walk the facility for 45 min before I found any workers. Call bells go unanswered, especially at night. The food is awful. Often the residents are fed white bread sandwiches or corny dogs and frozen french fries. Hot meals are very few. My father-in-law got frequent bed sores because of the poor hygiene and no mobility care. Please do not put your loved one here, they deserve better treatment in their old age....there is No respect!

At first I thought this was a decent place but as my mother became less independant and needed more attention as she is wheelchair bound and unable to communicate or understand things I noticed things started missing.On 2 seperate occasions $100.00 bills were missing from her purse. Cloths began missing. Someone took a diamond ring right off her finger. When I brought this to the attention of the manager they tried to say maybe she took it off or left it somewhere. Once I went during dinner time and she wasn't in the dinning room, I was told that she was making noises that bothered the other residents so they kept her in her room. When I went to her room her tray of food was to far away. They said maybe she wheeled her self back. That is impossible as she has no strength to do this and her wheelchair was locked. Her food was untouched. Had I not been there, she wouldn't have eaten because she couldn't reach it. Then I began seeing bruises. When I inquired about them they didn't know what happened and would always try to say she must have done it to herself. I continued to see bruises and began taking pictures, She had scrapes on both of her shins that have left scares from her feet to her knees. She can't walk, she can't push herself around in her wheelchair and they didn't know what happened. I complained so many times and was told that elderly people bruise easily. she wears diapers and they would put 2 on her at a time which is against regulations and we made them stop. They never offer milk with dinner, water only or tea, They serve the cheapest food possible. There are some good employees that have been there a long time but on weekends they have been understaffed. My mother can not eat by herself so if they are understaffed she doesn't get feed. I have gone up there at unexpected times, once to find she was put in bed at 6 and told to go to sleep. She wasn't tired. Her face had not been washed off and food was stuck to her face. They NEVER brush her teeth and only give them a shower once a week. I don't know if any facility is a good facility. This one has an affordable price and is clean. This my first time having a family member in assisted living and it is a difficult thing to go through.

I chose Castle Rock for my husband because they have the best price rate for the care. There are no caregiving charges, and everything is under one price. Then, when I toured the facility, I liked the environment and the atmosphere. The administrator is very pleasant and answers all my questions. I have eaten there with him, and the food is tasty. They are presented appetizingly as they serve it. They take care of the meals and everything. He enjoys everything. They have something to do every day. They go out to stores, and they take them shopping. They take them out to eat, and they do play dominoes. They have puzzles and all sorts of different activities. They also have entertainment coming in to entertain them. There is something going on all the time.

The food at Castle Rock was excellent. The dining area was beautifully appointed. It was in an area where the residents could see out and was across from a small airport where they could see planes taking off and landing, and they could all see a beautiful sunset every evening; it was a great place for a dining area. My mom had a one-bedroom apartment where she had a living room, a dining room, and a small kitchen area, she had room for guests to come in, and they could play cards or do dominoes. They also had activities in the common area, and she participated in that more than anything. They had cameras that were watched regularly in the entrances and also in all of the hallways, so they could see who was coming and going, they could see the residents if they left their rooms, and so forth. I cannot say enough about the staff; the manager, the nurses, all of the staff knew everyone by name, and even the owner came in on weekends and he knew everyone by name as well. He also was very caring and concerned; he wasn't an absent owner. He was on-site every week.

I found Castle Rock Assisted Living for my mom. The director and the nursing staff had all been there for years. The rooms are actually bigger than some of the rooms that I looked at. They have lots of activities. I had lunch with my mom, and the food is wonderful. I like that you get to know everybody, and it’s the same people that you see every day, as far as the staff goes.
