Mother was a resident of assisted living and nursing care. She enjoyed every aspect of living at Parklane West. The food was satisfactory and she was a picky eater but enjoyed breakfast

My step-dad was sent to this facility after he was discharged from the hospital after surgery for broken hip. Parklane did nothing to rehab him. He has dementia and they are not prepared to handle dementia patients. He has to be encouraged and sometimes fed and reminded to drink water. They did not do this. He lost a lot of weight. He developed a bad UTI from lack of water. When he left the hospital, he could stand and walk a few steps. When he left Parklane Rehab, he couldn't do anything. He was so weak. If your loved one has dementia or needs special care besides just therapy, don't send them to Parklane.

We really like Parklane West. We like it mainly because of the way that it looks. They sunnier, brighter, and had more space. There are areas where you could sit outside. The staff were very nice and accommodating. We had a meal there and it was good. The dining room was nice.

The facilities are very well kept with the surrounding areas kept in neat and orderly and clean condition. There is an indoor pool for therapy. The materials: carpet, paint, housekeeping looked to be in new condition but not with the "new" odor. In fact I noticed that it didn't have the familiar "people" odor. Parking is limited so if you have a large group you may want to plan ahead. The area is gated with a one way in and one way out direction that backs up to a military base so safety is not an issue.Upon visiting on several occasions the residents seemed calm and relaxed. The atmosphere reminded me of an upper level hotel. With that said, the one thing that stood out is that it did not look over crowded. Most living facilities seem to always be busting at full capacity. This one each time seemed nicely paced with people just not too many people. The private rooms were more likened to individual dorm room styles of an older version but still very well kept. In some ways the facility is pleasantly nostalgic but without being dated or old. Very pleasant place to visit

The facility itself is absolutely beautiful. My grandmother was very sick and would love just to sit in their garden area. She stated once that the air just smelled differently there and it was so peaceful. The staff was very accomodating to all of her needs. I personally was touched when I showed up and everyone knew who I was because they had taken the time to get to know her. They would ask her about her pictures which would help her to reminisce on great past memories. I would recommend this facility for anyone.

At first i heard a lot of rumors about this facility, that the doctors and CNA'S are careless and that they would rarely go to check up on patients, but i thought to myself, why can't i just go check it out for myself. I went to visit the facility because i wanted to find the best assisted living facility for my grandmother, i think this was the best facility so far, It is an upscale facility with really polite staff and the doctor seemed very caring, they accept medicare and medicaid, they are very clean and well organized. All those rumors, were lies, i loved it, i immediately registered my grandmother, and she is also happy with this place, I would recommend this facility to anyone who needs the best care or if you even want to work for this facility, they have great benefits for their employees, I might put an application as a CNA.

Parklane West is a small retirement community managed by Brookdale Living, which owns a number of different retirement communities nationwide. Parklane has two separate sections: assisted living and skilled nursing care. Housing choices are somewhat unusual at Parklane, since they offer semi-private rooms, in addition to the regular private apartments. The semi-private rooms are much smaller and cheaper than a private apartment. Meals are decent and prepared by a chef and dietician. Residents get to choose which items on the menu they want to eat. For catering events, chefs will prepare dishes upon request from residents. Transportation is available on a schedule (and by appointment) so residents can run errands and go shopping when needed. Compared to other retirement communities in the San Antonio area, Parklane West is a smaller, cheaper, and no-frills community. If you're looking for a community with solid care and minimal amenities, Parklane West would probably be a good fit.
