Poor phone system,With the covid situation it is important that patients phones or in mint condition. Borders on emotional abuse for both patient and family. Iv'e. been dealing with this for 3 weeks.

Our family member was in this facility and eventually put on hospice. Due to Covid 19, no one could visit and even the hospice nurse wasn’t allowed in the facility. The staff gave conflicting information on our loved one’s care. Her pain was not controlled as ordered by hospice. When we didn’t hear from our loved one via phone for two days, we contacted the facility and were told she was fine and just resting. The truth was she was actively dying at the time. We decided on the third day of no contact to drive 4 hours to the facility and look in her window. We got half way there and were informed she had passed. The facility called the hospice nurse and she informed the family contact.,We never were informed by the facility about her passing nor were any condolences offered. She died alone and in a manner that denied all respect and dignity.

85 yr old friend admitted to Weston on a Friday from hospital with pelvic and right shoulder fractures from fall at her apt. No surgery. Confined to bed. Shoulder immobilized in sling. Injuries extremely painful but pain under control when discharged from hospital. Transport brought her to Weston, put her in bed in her room. No visitors allowed in nursing facility due to Covid 19. Friend called me two hours after arrival, stating no one had come in her room until she screamed and yelled for help. Staff who came in said they did not know she was there. She called me again later, in terrible pain, and said no pain med. I called facility. Call transferred to nurse(?) who said meds delivered BID from out of town so no pain med until evening delivery, even though due at 3PM. I have received multiple calls from friend since admit with c/o neglect bordering on abuse. I am unable to reach staff by phone and unable to enter facility as noted above to advocate for her. She is at mercy of uncaring, probably incompetent staff. Trying to get her transferred to other facility but cannot be done on weekend. I will not hesitate to call State on this awful facility. They have my phone #, but do not care enough to call.

Sadly, my mother passed away after being at the Weston for a couple of years. We paid out of pocket for almost the entire two years in advance. The low rating is due to the fact that after she passed, (on the 4th - so with a large refund due) the business office suddenly "discovered" an insurance payment from TWO YEARS earlier that was 'not accurate'. I have been in contact with the office for three months now - at first they were unaware that the insurance provider (through her retirement) had changed. Then, they said the company did not ever get a claim (and yet I had provided them with statements showing otherwise.) I am still waiting. I cannot say if this is due to INCOMPETENCE or being UNETHICAL, or both. However, it is traumatic enough to lose a parent - much less deal with a business office that makes me feel like I am being cheated. Just do not bring your parent here. Go where there are competent and ethical business practices.
