My mother-in-law moved to The Reserve at First Colony. We chose it because our church does a lot of volunteering there, so I'm familiar with it, and I already had an opinion formed, so it was kinda an easy choice. They haven't really opened up their dining room yet to guests. I haven't eaten it, but I've seen their food. The staff is very friendly and helpful, I think they're really exemplary. All of the rooms are large rooms, like efficiency apartments. They have a kitchen and a big bathroom, then they have this big room where most people put their bed in one end, and they kind of have a living room with their TV on the other end. They're all repainted and they look clean and nice, they have hardwood floors, and they keep them clean. They have all kinds of activities. Almost every single day they have bingo, games, cards, or puzzles. They have a library for reading, they have activities that they get together for whoever wants to join, and they have a lot of fun. I think they are priced reasonably. I don't really have any problem with them at all, I've just been very impressed.

We have moved my mother-in-law into The Reserve at First Colony. We chose it because mainly for its proximity to where we live. It makes it convenient to go see her. Also, my father had been at this place and they took good care of him. They're taking good care of my mother-in-law that's there now. I would give it a four because their maintenance is kind of slow even with just simple things like changing light bulbs and repairing the toilet seat. The staff are attentive, and they're concerned, but the aides that they have there are not certified. Other places we looked into had hired certified nursing assistants, but overall the staff is very caring. I have never eaten the food, but my dad was there and now my mother-in-law, and that is their biggest complaint. I understand it's institutional food because they have to feed a large number of people, but it's just not very tasty. There are lots of activities. My mother-in-law just doesn't avail herself of any of them. There isn't a big variety of activities. It's bingo, chair exercises, or jigsaw puzzles, and that's pretty much it. There isn't a big variety of activities. The room that my mother-in-law is in and the room my dad had were very adequate and very spacious. They're much more spacious than another place we went to see. They've got everything they need.

Wow!! Love the staff here. They are very competent with my mothers care. My mom has never had an appetite but she’s been doing well. During these hard time staff have been taking extra care and paying attention to the needs of my mom. I could never thank them enough! Hope to visit soon.

I visited and thought they were great. It was very family-oriented. When you walk in, you do not smell urine and there were flowers around. Everybody had their own room, and their own furniture in the room. You can eat in the dining room or in your own room because they had a stove, refrigerator, and microwave in the apartment. The food was good, like going in a restaurant. The staff was great and had been there for years. Every Tuesday there's an outing, and every three months, they go to a casino.
