My father is in Parmer Woods at North Austin. We liked the outdoor garden walking area; it was very large and shaded. We liked the size of the rooms and the floor plan options. We liked the activities that we were told would be available. The rooms have a small kitchen with a refrigerator, a microwave, and sink. They have a large courtyard. However, I would give the medical administrative staff a score of 1. Those are the nurses and the administrators who are in charge. The administrator, the business manager, and the lady at the front desk quit after we got there. There are certain needs that a patient has, and you pay extra to support those needs. Those needs were not supported until we brought it to their attention after several weeks. People were not present to do their job, and my father did not receive the attention he should have received for the extra money we paid.

I toured the Parmer Woods at North Austin last week. I saw the assisted living, and I texted the lady yesterday that I would like to see the memory care, and know more about the activities. The staff was nice, I liked them, they were very friendly, and everybody spoke to me while I was walking down the hall. They're upgrading their building, I've been there a long time ago, they have a lot of new renovations, and it's just looking a lot brighter and up to date. The dining room was very spacious. At that time I think they were having an ice cream social or something. Somebody was playing the piano, and they were singing.

Mom moved into Brookdale Parmer Lane. They have music, games, and they take them shopping. They also have transportation to doctors' appointments. I have mixed ideas about the staff; there's some good staff members, and some bad, just like in every place.

Brookdale was OK, clean, and well maintained. I liked the rooms, and the dining area was very nice. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.

On paper this place seems wonderful, after move in we got the real experience. Everyone is polite, but "things don't get taken care of in a timely manner. Poor communication, lacks leadership, understaffed. The dining is good as long as whats on the menu is to your liking, alternatives to main entree are the same all week. This place has issues, often swept under the rug, or they put a spin on it to make themselves look good. This has been our only experience , it's been an eye opener, alot of work to make it a positive so far. be prepared for a roller coaster ride at first as there is no orientation process, sink or swim. We've spent best part of four months treading water.

Brookdale Parmer Lane is very nice. The room is very similar to the other facility I visited, but the surroundings were much better. Also, it is a bigger facility. The dining area is much bigger, and they had an open setting kind of like a restaurant. You can order whatever you wanted. They had bingo and card playing and some different things. They can probably improve the cost though.

The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The cafeteria is excellent; we ate there one night, and the food was great. We have had a very good experience so far. Mom has been at Brookdale for about three or four weeks, and she has not really participated in anything yet. She has a couple of friends there, and she is getting used to her room and surroundings.

From the beginning, the staff and the director at Emeritus at Parmer Woods were all extremely helpful, and I like the fact that the Director knew everybody in there by first names. Everyone speaks to each other. The second thing about them that I like is that they serve meals from 7 am to 7 pm. There is no set period of time that you come to go and eat. That is a big plus for a lot of people. Everybody has been great. The staff as well as the nursing staff has been good. The therapy has been good too, and we haven't had any real problems there at all for my mother-in-law.

My sister-in-law is in Parmer Woods. The place is updated and only three or four years old. Everything is nice and has a lot of things that we like. The staff is friendly, they have numerous activities, they have transportation services, and they also have a garden. They have one and two bedroom apartments. However, it's $3,700 a month for a one-bedroom apartment.

Merril Gardens at Parmer Woods was the one we really wanted our dad to go to, but they didn't have any room for him. We were really impressed with it. They had a really nice dining hall, which was available all day long. They had lots of activities.

The Merrill Gardens at Parmer Woods is a lovely assisted living facility conveniently located in the Austin, Texas area. The outer areas were really nice -- with plenty of shrubs and greenery to enjoy. it resembles a two story home more than an apartment community.
They offer many levels of care here, which is great because as our aunt's condition changes, her care can be adjusted. This means she could probably stay there as long as possible.
The outer gazebo like structure was really spacious and bright. It is easy to see how our aunt would really enjoy that area.
Every room is bright, clean and full of nice energy. The residents all appeared to be very happy.
The activity programs featured exercise, the arts, crafts, music and many other outings and fun things to do. The residents are encouraged to participate in as many activities as they are able to and desire.
The food was exemplary; the snacks we tried were really delicious. The menu options seemed endless -- including just about anything a person could want. They are aware of all of the dietary needs of every resident.
We especially liked the "anytime dining program" which seemed to lend itself to the life of an active senior. It's easier to participate in the dining options when you're not having to adjust to a rigid schedule.
This is a very well-run, exceedingly well maintained and vibrant community, where any senior would enjoy living a very full life.
