My sister-in-law started out at Austin Wellness and Rehabilitation. It's just depressing, and I really wanted to find some place for her that is cheerier and not so grim. It's sad visiting her. It wasn't secure enough for her. She kept leaving or trying to leave, that's why she had to go to the other nursing facility. She moved in early March of last year, then they had a lockdown. I was able to visit her and had dinner with her each night for 2 or 3 days after she got there, then after that, not at all. The place was fine, but it felt like a hospital ward. Her room was fine. It had two beds in it, but she was the only one in there originally, then she got a roommate later. I would like to find a place that meets her needs that feels homier. The staff seemed fine, but I didn't see any activity. I didn't have a lot of opportunities to visit. I was only there the first 2 or 3 evenings she was there. The nice thing was I was able to join her for dinner. I paid for dinner and ate with her, which I liked. The food was good. Then, the lockdown came, so I don't know about any activity there and there were none that I observed. I didn't see the dining room. I just ate with her in her room.
