I was at Country Village Care for rehab. The staff was so nice. The food was good. It was real pretty. They had remodeled it in the last couple of years, so it looked real nice and fresh inside. I just had a standard room with two beds in it. Each person in the room had their own TV and remote. It had a full size bathroom with a sink and a walk-in shower. Everything was wheelchair-accessible. Each person also had their own closet, four-drawer tall chest, a nightstand, and a lamp over the nightstand. They had a big dining room and smaller living room that was really nice and cozy. It had several sofas and nice comfy chairs. The physical therapists were all real nice, too. The only thing I noticed was they were not strict on salt when serving food (I'm on a sodium-restricted diet).

We had my dad in Country Village Care. He passed away in December 2020. I like the nurses. They were kind to him. I like the way that the facility is organized in pods, where people in one certain area eat together in their little area. They had lots of activities for the seniors. I was not pleased with the rehab portion, though. My dad had dementia. We took him there because he had had sepsis. He was recovering from sepsis, and he was on a high-powered antibiotic that made his dementia worse, but whenever I told people that, they didn't believe me. If he did not improve for the therapists, then they considered him to not be improving. When he went into the facility, though, he was unable to get out of bed at all, unable to use the toilet, and unable to do some things like that. He got to where he could stand, get into the wheelchair, and transfer himself to the toilet, but that didn't count because he didn't do it for them. Medicare was no longer going to pay for him to stay there because this therapy couldn't show him as improving. They told me that, and I wasn't happy about it, but then they expected me to know that that I had to have another place for him or another arrangement made for him the very next day. They did not say that clearly to me, and so I got there the next day and the nurses said, "Well, he's checking out today, isn't he?" So I filed something against that decision and was able to keep him there another day or two while I made other arrangements for him.

As beautiful as the facilities are in the Memory Care Unit, it is the employees that work there that really impress me! I have never seen such caring and hard working people! They truly take an interest in all of the residents there and treat them as if they are one of their own family members! I am there most of the day, and am amazed at how much they know each person that they care for and make sure that they are not only given what they need, but they do their best to make sure that they are happy! And they always have smiles on their faces, no matter how tired they must be! You can always find nice facilities, but, IMO, the staff is the most important thing when looking for a place for a loved one, and Country Village has sure done a great job!

I have had a family member there for five years now, and except for some issues with meds not ordered or her complaints about a roomate she is happy. She and a couple friends entered a quilt they made in activities, into the Brazoria County fair and took best overall. They have daily activities if they choose to participate. The food is good; I eat with my family member one twice a month, to keep an eye on food quality.
