Chisholm Place had very nice people. They're very open, very sweet and all, but it was smaller and more closed in. The areas weren't as big and they needed to be updated a little bit. They do have activities, too, like bingo, Art Day, and a lot more. The cook makes the meals, but I think they let you order as well. They did not have a big kitchen, so that's what turned us off, and their rooms were smaller, but price-wise, it was a lot lower and better because you get what you pay for.
They also have a full-time nurse, a full-time LPN, and good quality medical care if you need it. However, the place looked more like a nursing home style. I think they need some paint or some updates, but the better thing about them was the floors were at least wood and not carpeted.

I visited Chisholm Place. I was thrilled with it, and I paid a down payment. The next day Mother had gotten a lot worse. They're a class D nursing facility. My mother had to be what was called suctioned, and they provide that. I guess it was a full nursing care. It was a wonderful place.
The staff were wonderful and kind. I was just so happy with it, but then she got too sick to go there.
The place was clean, bright, and colorful. The dining area was immaculate. It was still going to be nursing care because it was going to be more than just assisted living. They have a nurse there all the time. They have CNAs. I'm not sure how many each shift, but there were lots of employees. I was just amazed at how nice it was. That was the best of the best.

My mother was at Chisholm Place, and we were impressed with the place, we liked the people there. They were very nice, and they were very caring. My mother didn't stay there long enough. They do have activities, but she didn't participate in that. She was there for just 6 days and nights, so we had a very short stay. I guess the food looked good, but she didn't have that much of an appetite. They serve food, have housekeeping, and they do the laundry. They also have a salon.

We visited Chisholm Place. It was assisted living, but we didn't care for it because it had more of a nursing home feel to it. The staff was very nice. For activities, they had bingo, dominoes, puzzles, and an exercise area.

Chisholm Place was the only place we toured. We would probably not send anybody there. They took my father-in-law in there, he lasted 12 hours in there, got agitated, he wasn't gonna stay there, and so we had to take him back. That wasn't the facility's fault, but they collected over $5000 from us for the first month's rent, and their activity fees and they weren't gonna reimburse any of that money. The rooms were clean, I don't have any complaints about the rooms, I wasn't involved in getting him in there, but I personally think that the staff did a poor job of evaluating him for being eligible to be in assisted living. The part where we were in was pretty good, and it didn't smell.

My mother is at Chisholm Place. Everything's good, they provide excellent care, and there's a caring staff. I have no problems with it. She's enjoying it. She said the food is great. They're feeding her too much, and it's good food. She's very active and goes to all the activities they can do during the shutdown. Her room is adequate, and it's big enough for her. It's about probably 400 to 500 square feet. Right now, everything's kind of slowed down because of COVID.

It was a smaller facility with 44 units, six one bedroom apartments and the rest were single rooms. I chose it because of the secure feature they had which was important because my mom had Alzheimer's. If she wandered or got upset, she would not be able to get out because of the secured lock-in. She had a courtyard just off her bedroom which she looked out over and walked around anytime she pleased. I loved the staff and my mom did too. Since it was a smaller unit, it was more one on one. She had access to staff members 24 hours a day. I liked that they got all the residents involved on the daily activities. They made sure they got involved if they wanted to. I would suggest they improve on the communication with the family. We had a couple of instances that were pretty important that I thought we should have had a heads up on. Though they handled it and did not do anything wrong, it would have been nice to know. Still, I would recommend this facility to others.
