This facility is one of the worst ones I have visited. NHC has several facilities in the area, but Fort Sanders is by far the thorn in their side. They cannot keep a staff because they have nurses quitting on an almost daily basis it seemed. The CNA's would go out to smoke and not return for half an hour, there were no safety equipment or gloves available on several occasions, and I did not feel the staff tried to maintain the dignity of the patients when it was needed. This was also the only facility I have visited that used restraints on patients in a mannar so frequently that it made me very uncomfortable.
