American House West Knoxville was a nice facility. I didn't see anything wrong with it. I think the price point was too high for us for my in-laws. The staff was very friendly. We saw the activity calendar and stuff like that. They had bingo, they had movie nights, and they take them out for trips like shopping. Those were the things we saw.

During my tour with American House West Knoxville, I wasn't very impressed. The rooms and the facility were smaller. It didn't have as many amenities and the pricing was very similar to others I have visited. It was more outdated, and things weren't improved at all, it was kind of an older facility. The staff were very nice, and they showed me around the whole facility. But for the pricing, it didnt compare at all to the other facility we have chosen.
The rooms were just smaller, and they didn't have any built-in shelves or cabinets. They had activities and an activity schedule, a library, and a little activity room.
They should be updating everything, maybe providing more amenities if possible. The one room that I looked at was private. They were pretty decent on the cleanliness side. I only met one person on the staff, and she was very nice.

I went to American House West Knoxville. We were not at all impressed with the facility. The facility was dirty. It's old, it's overpriced. It would not be someplace I would put a loved one. The staff was fine. The rating has to do mainly with the pricing. It's like New York City pricing. It's not West Knoxville pricing.

My friend is in American House West Knoxville. Honestly, I had to fuss and argue with them. They made a lot of promises when they tried to get us to sign, such as they told us that one room was going to be available and then the day that we were moving in, it was a different room. They told us that he didn't have to have carpet. He could have the vinyl planking put in because he's in a wheelchair and it's easier to move around, he's fairly young, and he's probably gonna be there for years.
They told us that he could have that planking and then the day we get there, I caught somebody in there cleaning dirty old carpet, and I said, "What are you doing?" She goes, "Well, someone's moving in here today." I said, "No, he's not." I went out there and threw a temper tantrum and told them that they tried to pull the bait-and-switch. I'm not very happy with their food there either. Other than that, I guess my friend is doing OK. Now that I threw a temper tantrum, I don't have any problems there. I just don't like to have to do that. He has a bedroom and a living room. His quarters are larger than most of the places that I visited. He has a kitchenette there, so he's able to have a microwave, a refrigerator, and things like that, so that's helpful to him.
Another thing that went wrong is that they said that they provided internet for everybody, that the wi-fi was free, and when we got in there, it was not. They said it was because he lived on the far corner, but when I plugged his computer on, I noticed all of the local accounts that were right next to him. That was another thing that they lied about. They said that you got free wi-fi, but the people are paying for their wi-fi. The salespeople did the bait-and-switch. I think all assisted living is ridiculously expensive. It's unbelievable how pricy it is.

My mom moved in, and it is fantastic. Their facility is wonderful. It has a hair salon, arts and crafts (that she loves to do), and lots of entertainment. My mother loves the food.
They are amazing. The personnel there is fantastic, very friendly, and very perceptive about what is needed. They are quick to respond when she calls them on the little clicker that they gave her. They have a physical therapy room, so they offer podiatry and physical therapy.

My parents have moved in, and it's good so far. They're in the same unit, and my mother is getting her higher level of care. They're more cheerful than what they had before. Their apartment is nice, and we got everything set up. It's good sized and more than adequate for them. It's a 2-room unit with a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchenette area. Everyone was very nice. Nursing care is very timely in bringing their medications. They said the food is good. They are planning to do some updates, new carpet and things like that.

My dad was in the assisted living. It was a very nice place and very comfortable for my dad, but he started falling and had to go into memory care. I wasn't crazy about the memory care part of their community. It seemed too gloomy and felt like it was in a basement. I didn't care for that. The assisted living level was very nice. They had lots of activities that kept him busy. The staff was great, everybody was very friendly and they seemed to have everything there for him. His room was a studio.

I liked it, it was a really nice, homey facility with nice programs. When I was there, they had a choir visiting upstairs, so they had taken a lot of residents upstairs. They had a veterans' wall, which was really nice. They took them on adventures.

It was very good too, and it was also my top choice. It was very nice. They had people doing activities, people sitting outside, and a walkway. It was an older facility, but it was very clean.

It had small rooms, and that’s the reason why I did not take it. The environment seemed to be alright. The staff was very nice; they take us around and showed us everything.

It was very impressive and very bright. Everybody is very friendly and very professional; my friend is very happy with it. The dining room is very nice. What impressed us was that everybody that was on staff wore an outfit that you knew that they were on staff; I noticed that very much in the dining room.

My relative just moved in today. She got the largest room, and it was probably one of the nicest sized rooms that you could get anywhere. We went to the Thanksgiving feast, and we actually had dinner there tonight and the food was good. They do have a very full schedule, and there is a big calendar of events. The staff is excellent at all levels. What impressed me most is the friendliness of the staff and the residents.

It was very nice and we liked it a lot. We needed an assisted living place, however, and not an independent living. The size of the rooms was very nice; it was very clean, neat, and tidy with very wide windows. They have just about everything you want in terms of activities. The staff was very nice.

I went and the staff was very informative and helpful. It's a very nice place, and I like that they keep everybody very active. The rooms were not as spacious as I thought they were going to be, though.

I am now living here, and I found them over the Internet. I chose this facility because they had the room I wanted and they allowed my pet. The facility is good. Their food is mediocre. None of them are really great, but it's all right. The people who work here are very excellent, and they give me good service.

It is a lovely facility that really does focus on getting the residents up and about. They have so many activities planned on a daily basis that there is always something that will appeal to any resident. They have a great fenced in yard area in the back with lots of picnic tables that are a popular spot when it gets warm outside. The dining room is also really nice and actually makes you feel like you are dining out in a restaurant. Overall this facility is very good.
