I should have read the reviews before sending my father here. He would still be alive if I had. He was sent there to receive rehab for cellulitis in his leg. 5 days before he passed away, he was coughing up blood. Not just a small amount of blood, but a lot. We asked the nurse about it, and she said it was from thrush. The next day when we went to visit him, we asked if the bleeding had stopped, and we were told that she did not get in report that he was coughing up blood. That means that she had not laid eyes on him because he had an emesis basin and wash rags on his bed that were covered. We asked the nurses to get him a consult for GI, Pulmonary, ENT, and cardiology. We were told that he would have to do that outpatient instead of seeing that he needed to be sent back to the hospital. He was in a lot of pain, and they made him feel like he was lazy because he was so weak, he could not do the physical therapy. He was not able to eat. He was barely able to drink. They did not send him back to the hospital until it was too late. He died less than 24 hours later.

My mother moved into the Life Care Center of Blount County for rehab and long-term care after. It seemed like a good place, good physical therapy, nice and clean, and nice common areas. The staff seemed attentive and professional. The food is okay, better than others. The dining area is nice, really big and carpeted. The rooms are your basic room, but it's a nice size, big bathroom, has a window, is so comfortable, and has a nice TV. My mom just got a haircut yesterday. They have a lot of nice common areas. They've got a lot of areas outside, like on the patio where they go outside and sit at many different places around outside. So that's nice too. It's immaculate here, everything inside and out. It was quite expensive, but we figured it was worth it.

My wife was a resident of Life Care Center of Blount County. We finally moved from them because they had a very serious mistake on the medical end. Basically, she wound up in the emergency room fighting for her life. So, we're not going back there. The therapy staff is very good. The facility is beautiful. They have a big dining room, and we had great rooms; it's really laid out. You might consider calling them extravagant. It really got serious recently. She probably could have gone back there, but we elected to stay away. The therapy end of it is very good. The skilled nursing, they're kind of spotty there; for the most part, they're pretty good, but they make some big blunders. A lot of people go there; I was really thinking that she was very satisfied there the first time. Here's the deal, it depends on the patient. If they're just there to rehab a knee replacement or something like that, it would probably be fine, and everything would be good, but if they have a lot of medical things going on that require attention, then it's not quite so good. It's highly dependent on the patient. The staff are pretty good, they're very competent, and some of them are conscientious. I would say, overall, the people are not as conscientious as the people where I am now. I would say the food is pretty good. They have a pretty good collection of activities. The facility is actually pretty nice.

My mom has been staying in the Life Care Center of Blount County for rehab. She has just been there for about two days now, and I like it a lot, but they didn't allow visitors after she was admitted. I never got past the door, but the outside was really nice and looked well maintained. The staff is very professional, and they seemed to have activities that would keep them busy. They have places for painting classes, an activity room, and more.

For 14 days, my daddy was at Life Care Center of Blount County. They gave him physical therapy and anything he needed, they were right there. We felt like he got very good care there.
